V1 must not be very forgiving. You may want to PM Alozaros, he has some V2s and is running 41813 on them. Only thing I can suggest is trying to flash via TFTP recovery method.

Maybe this build is broken. Why don't you try an older one that is known to work?

Just a newer data point along those lines: I successfully updated a WR1043ND v1.1 unit from the factory firmware to DD-WRT v3.0-r41786 std (12/23/19). Hope this helps any other lurkers with old hardware.
