i've been googling and reading for hours, and
everything i find is either out dated or irrelevant.
i just want to get my kong dd-wrt r7500v2
back to any recent netgear stock firmware.
doing a firmware upgrade within kong
to the netgear's img file does not work.
it 100% uploads the file, but then boots
right back into the same old kong.
doing the 30.30.30 "trick",
just takes me back to kong.
"reset" or "don't reset" just makes me
have to renew a dd-wrt password again.
i have putty and winmtr tools,
but don't know how to linux.
Use tftpd32. Set a static up on your pc. Hold the reset button in as you power up the router, when the power led blinks, upload the firmware using tftpd32.

Btw, Windows 10 does have tftp. You have to enable it. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
it's working... i'm now seeing at 192.168.1.1 in a browser the netgear genie page
after re-reading the instructions i linked
i missed the part about not hitting "enter"
for the command until the router was in that
after 10 blink ready mode
it sure was a relief to see this actually works,
now i can sell this r7500v2 and get on with my life.
thanks again for your support - have a nice weekend.
