Then, there could be a fault in the hardware. _________________ R6250 with fan on; wifi off

Unlikely... The issue clears after reboot and it isn't unique to my unit. This issue I have is well known with this model. A hardware problem would stay broken.
What version are you running now? What do your RX packet errors look like?
It crapped out again on me last night. It really is a useless piece of hardware as a bridge.
I just flashed 35034. I will report my results here.
35034, is holding up for now. One thing I noticed with this build and none other, was the need to reboot each and every time I make a change, save and apply. If I don't reboot, there is no wireless traffic passed, but I can access the GUI.
Gargoyle 1.10.0 has been running for several weeks now. There were a few crapouts early on, but not recently. I would have liked a RSSI indicator and I have the auto-reboot schedule active daily.

mine also was bricked some time ago by updating to a later version.
Since 1.0 cannot be fixed with TFPT alone, fixed it through Serial console (TTL - USB adapter).
My question: is it normal to see "No valid address in Flash. Using fixed address" in Putty log (at beginning of U-boot)?
Seems was also when back to original TP-Link firmware.
(I'm now on latest DD-WRT (version 20 July 2019).)
now testing if I can use it as OpenVPN client, to link to my OpenVPN server router in another country... so far no luck, still researching a solution (probably this router's hardware too weak for this?)
