Can confirm that upgrading from 36645 to 36698 put the RT-AC66U into a boot loop. Tried the built in Asus miniWEB server but unable to upload an older version as it kept timing out. But, was able to use the miniWEB server to erase nvram variables.

Tried TFTP with no luck. Kept getting TLL=100 for some time, then after 4 or 5 cycles it changed to TLL=64 and a really old version of DD-WRT came up. Finally had to do a hard reset on the router and then re-enter a new password. At this point I was able to recover and upload an older version of DD-WRT 36247.

RT-AC66U does not like build 36698.

A really old version can’t come up unless you’ve uploaded it it, so your mini cfe webserver upload must have worked.

I totally agree with you, but I'm scratching my head on this one. The version that first came up was 21xxx from 2013 and I re-flashed it with the same file 36247. It would have been 5 years ago that I flashed the 21xxx.

Anyway, the good thing was it was recoverable.

The A1 has 128/2MB separate flash chips, B1 has 256/128MB separate flash chips. Not entirely impossible for old builds to be lingering. Or parts of them.

@moon_pie - I wonder if that's why my webGUI has randomly fubar'ed after 3 days (on Safari). I'm not even gonna bother taking a screenshot, it took about 20 minutes and a refresh and it's ok now... but I just checked syslog and here we go....

Kernel VersionLinux 3.10.108-d5 #62594 Wed Aug 22 05:11:59 CEST 2018 mips

A desktop is getting IP 192.168.0.85, and 192.168.0.50 as gateway

It's really weird because dd-wrt is at 192.168.1.1 with DHCP enabled..

Now I'm confused...

Is the WAN port enabled, and is it set to DHCP? Or is it set to router mode, used as a switch / wireless AP?

Yes, enabled.. With dhcp client..
I think it's errounesly bridging everything, right?
Last build works ok..

I am not seeing this particular behavior, but I have some changes to default configurations, like forcing dns to router, no-resolv directive using OpenDNS servers. Could be possible that something with bridging or VLAN is causing an issue, but that is something you would have to look into.
