help!! my Linksys WRT54G v7 router is bricked.. i know the router is not supported.. but since it is my "spare" router... i loaded the vxworkskillerv7.bin in downloads>others>eko>BRAINSLAYER TESTBUILDS folder..
it seems to work... but when i reboot my router after loaded the killer.. only d router's power led is blinking.. i can ping the router thru 192.168.1.1 .. and when i access 192.168.1.1 from my browser.. it shows Management Mode where I can reload the default linksys firmware to it.. so i applied the default firmware.. and click "apply".. but doesnt work..
now the power led still blinking though...
any help guys? thanks in advance.. Smile

Time for a new router....trashcan is the only thing this one is good for now.

WRT54Gv7 is NOT supported....it is not Broadcom based.

you can try this, I have and it worked for the v7 router, then just load the linksys firmware back on.

hyperwrt may work on that router if you need to expand it, up to you,

So, you're afraid you've bricked your router. Don't worry, there are a number of things you can try to get your router working again before giving up and living with the fact that your router is now a paperweight.

It is also unfortunately possible to configure your router in ways which make it dead to the world. These techniques may be useful in these cases also.

Before you continue below, make sure you've tried a hard reset first:

1. Disconnect the router from UTP cables (not the power cable).
2. Push reset button for 30 secs
3. Without releasing reset button disconnect power cord.
4. Hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
5. Replug the power cord.
6. Still hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
7. Release the reset button and give the router about 10 secs to resettle
8. Disconnect power cord for another 10 secs and the reconnect.
9. All should be in default settings now.

thanks to ddwrt help section for this

my best shot at this is as said above, do the hard reset exactly as stated, then log in to it with ip 192.168.1.1

it will be a blank white page only allowing the upload of a file, upload the linksys firmware for it and then retry your method if you still want to load a alternative firmware.

um.. sorry.. i tried that.. but whenever i upload a firmware to it and hit "apply".. it just said "Upgrade Success" and the router reboot itself.. but no change to the firmware has been applied.. still the same management mode..
