How to configure VPN over dd-wrt router for child security?

Hello, I am not familiar with the technicalities behind how vpn connects and block specific sites or content. Although, I am using Ivacy VPN for general use and streaming purpose only but if I can configure it somehow to restrict the content that's not appropriate for children, than is there any possibility? Thanks.

Try OpenDNS that is what I'm using for my kids and access restriction.

many DNS servers have family friendly variants you can us.

what way anyone off your router gets the family DNS which will
not resolve bad stuff, while you can circumvent that using
your vpn client on your pc.
