Hi This is my first time on this forum, I didn't see any thread for D-Link so I thought this was the best place. Please advise if this is not.

Question:

I just purchased router in subject and I wasn't able to locate any firmware software in dd-wrt or openwrt.

Is there any guide on how to do this for my particular router? Please and thanks!

I don't see it is supported by dd-wrt.

Would it be safe to use the 878 firmware to flash?

I'm new to this any help is appreciated.

I can't say for sure but no it probably wouldn't work.

Why is it not compatible? it's the same manufacturer, CPU, same wireless chips and switch.

I can confirm that the D-Link DIR-867 wireless router seems to work properly when flashed with the DIR-878-A1 firmware.

I have tried the following beta releases: r43055, r43078, and r43099. Each seems to be stable and are giving the same wireless throughput rates that I was seeing using the factory firmware. I have only tested the wireless and basic WAN gateway functions.

The only problem I have noticed is that the LEDs that indicate activity on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands do not light up. Does anyone have an easy fix for this?

Moved this one to the right forum and deleted your other post. You should search the forum to answer your question. Would've been better to get proper detection information first so it might be added in the future.
