Here is the need :
- I will move where an existing home network exist. I mean a router exist and manages the internet connection on which 2 other apartments will have access (other tenants). I have access to this router to configure it if needed.
- I want to access internet through the existing router, but i want to implement my own closed network to avoid any body within the existing network to access my ressources at all, not only not discoverable in windows (nas, computers, cameras, google home, chrome cast, printers, etc...). My router will be accessible through LAN and Wifi. Both routers will be connected wired probably.
- I have a DIR-868L router with the build 35034b dd-wrt version on it ready to be configured.
Any body can help me with this ? Really appreciated, I can't figured it out, sorry.
I tried to tansfer the Information into a graphic (see attachment).
Remember it is a double nat solution. If you dont know what this is, then dont worry about it. It wont matter to you.
To be fair though: better speak with all the tennants, as that is a kind of basic system setup where everyone should have a say or at least know about it
The Server part with the dmz is optional but a Handy Addition. You can host your TS here and share your Porn stash with all the others.
Personally, i would install the DIR as the main Gateway router, as this is where the load will occur. Then get the required numbers of Routers as indentical Units, some 54g boxes will be sufficient and install those as subnet Routers. That way every tenant has the same set up and you as the admin can deal with identical guis.
Make sure to use diffent SSIDs and channels on the subnet Routers. I suggested 1 5 9 14 (if that width is available in your area. otherweise 1 4 8 11). There is some channel overlap (in 2,4ghz mode anyway) Depending on the size of the area you can add a guest wlan on the main Gateway, otherwise just disable WLAN there as everything is hardwired.
