Hello,

I got my wrt1900acs v2 finally.
Unfortunately trying to flash without luck, always get back with the original linksys firmware.
Anything I may do wrong?

Thanks.

Hi,

i had the same with my 1900acs v1.

Follow this :
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=313590

Strange thing is, that even a Serial Flash didnt help.
My stock firmware was on part 2 and every time i was set back to partition 2 even if i flashed ddwrt or stock to partition 1.

What helped me was to flash ddwrt to both partitions.

A few hints:
The 1900ACS needs the serial adapter plugged (in my case ground or tx) after switched on. So basically i had 3-5 seconds to plug in Serialcable and enter flash mode.

I havent tried to flash stock now to partition 1 and change. Maybe with the next update Smile

Hope that helps!

//My guess to this behaviour:
Maybe 1900acs gets a little crazy when you flash stock to partition 2 accidentially? Im not sure but maybe than prevents partition switching?

Downgrade the Linksys firmware then try flashing DD-WRT.

I am having the same issue on a 1900acs v1.
I have tried downgrading the stock firmware as suggested, which is successful, but then when I flash DD-WRT it reverts to the downgraded stock partition. I am using the current beta for this device.

For some reason the latest factory-to-ddwrt.bin images for the WRT1900AC V2 didn't work for me. What I eventually tried that worked was going back to a January 2018 factory-to-ddwrt.bin image. After it installed I was able to load the 28-July-2018 ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acv2-webflash.bin image.

And when you did the webflash you overwrote the Linksys partition. If you plan on staying with dd-wrt then no biggie.

That's all I ran and updated on the previous WRT1200AC unit until the 5 GHz radio permanently gave up the ghost. It would have been nice to keep the factory firmware on a "just in case" basis. Since the recent factory-to-ddwrt.bin images aren't working on virgin hardware, this is the route I had to take to obtain an up-to-date version.

Cheers and thanks to everyone.

This is what worked for me (wrt1900acs v2). I tried the 1-28-2018 build and all is well.
FWIW..., NOTHING else worked. Only installation of an older ddwrt release succeeded using the manual firmware installation process from the factory firmware web interface.

Question: In case anybody actually sees this..., I'd like to upgrade to the latest and best release possible. Any favorites in the post 1-28-2018 timeframe?

Thx!

FWIW, I used the first 2019 release -- 38159 -- to install dd-wrt from the factory firmware for a bunch of WRT1900ACSv2 routers without incident. From there it was no problem webflashing 39144 from March 2019, which was a very solid release that I used for months. Recently I used the webflash files to upgrade three of those routers to 40009 from July 2019, which in the weeks I have used it also has given me zero problems. Any of those builds can be flashed to router partition two, which is the small one. That will be important if you want to keep the factory firmware on partition one. (See the Marvell forum Cliff Notes if you are unfamiliar with how to control which partition a webflash ends up in.)

I am experimenting now with the very recent 40784 in partition one, as it is too large for partition two. I went with it to get the newer linux kernel it uses, along with a very up-to-date openvpn release. I can't recommend this build yet though, as I seem to be getting some squirrely behavior with it.

The release I had the longest and most trouble-free experience with is definitely 39144.

Thank you. I downloaded the factory firmware just-in-case, but I might have a go at playing with partition management a bit. Thanks again!

Also, keep your eye on today's new-build thread, New Build : 09-03-2019-r40890 at https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=321127, as it seems that its size has been radically reduced, and now it fits easily into either partition.

Updated to 39144. Correct partition was targeted. All is well!

(AND..., some odd latency issues seem to have been fixed)
