This seems to be happening more of late. No one has confirmed yet if the DD-WRT firmware doesn't flash or if the flash is successful, but the router boots into the Linksys partition.

You can use the u-boot commands via Telnet to manually switch partitions.

Either the DD-WRT firmware will be there or you will know the flash didn't take.

If you're unfamiliar with Telnet or the commands - the top link in my signature has the instructions.

ubootenv get boot_part
then
ubootenv set boot_part 1
or
ubootenv set boot_part 2

Thanks for you help.

I often use the ubootenv trick to swap back to the OEM linksys from dd-wrt before flashing a new dd-wrt build. I find it is useful to maintain the OEM partition. Can you ssh/telnet into the linksys OEM partition?

I think the problem is with the r36247 build. I was able to successfully flash r35681.

SSH is enabled by default on the WRT32X stock firmware and all DD-WRT builds have default Telnet access. I can't remember for certain about the other WRT models with stock firmware, but I'm pretty sure they have Telnet access.

You can use the 'webflash upgrade trick' outlined in the Tutorial to upgrade without having to switch back to stock. It may eliminate whatever is causing the issue in this build.

Quote:

Trick to Upgrade DD-WRT Firmware without losing current configuration or the need to return to Stock Firmware:

Using Telnet/SSH and the ubootenv set boot_part command (described below) it is possible to upgrade to a newer version of DD-WRT without the need to manually switch back to Stock Firmware Partition. All previously configured settings will remain intact.

1. Use the ubootenv get boot_part command to learn the current Partition in use.
2. Use the ubootenv set boot_part (1 or 2 – the opposite number returned in Step 1) command.
3. DO NOT REBOOT
4. In DD-WRT GUI – Administration Tab – Firmware Upgrade Sub Tab: Upload the new ’dd-wrt webflash.bin’ file for your Router & Hardware Version. MAKE SURE THAT NO RESET IS SELECTED.
5. After Firmware Upgrade is finished the Router will automatically reboot.

*You should now have the new DD-WRT upgrade on the current Partition and OEM Firmware will still be intact on opposite partition.

Finally got fed up with the 2.4 and 5.0 wifi disconnects and hangs on my WRT3200ACM, reverted back to r35927 and everything seems good again. Funny thing is I could not get the Map in Motion on the Weather Channel to work on my computer wirelessly using r36247 but it's working fine again on r35927, I thought it was their web site but obviously not.

@BobbyLee - I'll be doing the same tonight. It was working well for a couple of days, then the hangs came back. So back to r35927 or r35898.

On previous releases I was getting a lot of disconnects, not as many on this release but the hangs in this release were too many and too often.

Went back to r35927 had occasional disconnects but no hangs, now on r35898 no disconnects or hangs so far. Is this the issue covered by ticket 6319? Guess I'll have to follow the status on that ticket until it's fixed.

I just tried to flash my WRT1200 v2 with the factory to DDWRT to bin (yes this is my first install of DDWRT on this router) and nothing happend. The router installed the firmware and rebooted and was still at stock Linksys firmware.

I am not positive but I turned off the shortcut forwarding engine last night and so far I've had no disconnects... hoping this is my resolution.

When I input the script to command shell and reboot,
The lan port1 to 4 of WRT32X cannot access the interface and internet but Wifi connection is no issues. The bug is also affect 06-27-2018-r36242.

The other build of WRT1200AC and WRT1900ACSV2 do not affect.

Same here, no disconnects or hangs yet on r35898. For troubleshooting purposes, I removed all extra configuration not necessary. Took out local dns management (set everything in Services tab back to the defaults except SSH is enabled), cleared the hostname field in the Basic Setup tab. Turned off syslogd and turned off the scheduled 6:30am reboot. Will add these things back one thing at a time. Works great at the moment.

It's possible that the issue is covered by 6319, but the hangs were affecting my laptops running different linux distros, so it's more than just ios devices. During these hangs, network manager shows that there is a connection. I'm also skimming any recent tickets related to dnsmasq since I based a simple setup on this youtube video (which may well be wrong) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgfInxSbLX0

Now I'm wondering if 36247 would work if the configuration was just the basics.

That's what I'm thinking. I have no ios devices just Windows, Linux, and Android devices and no disconnects or hangs yet (~36hrs). I didn't dumb done my settings at all and no problems here on r35898.
