why my 2.4GHz download speed is so slow?

is there any best setting for 2.4Ghz on this router?

Help... the upload can pull 60-80mbps but download is below 30mbps
my internet speed is 150mbps/150mbps

I am using latest r39144 build

Thanks

In my case with the version 37961 also the wifi is extremely slow, I thought that the later versions would be solved.
You have the archer c7 v5 and you did not have problems to do the upgrade?

I just bought today and did the factory to ddwrt...

now my problem is the whole LAN ports speedtest just maxed download to 30mbps other than that is fine
Wifi 2.4GHz download 30mbps and all lan port only maxed download 30mbps (for internet using speedtest) what is happening here? is there a code inside the firmware that cap this speed?

This worked very well for me for restoring original firmware after of a friend's router:
https://github.com/nsmathew/ConfigsAndHelpers/blob/master/TP-Link%20Archer%20C7%20V2%20UnBrick/Steps%20to%20Unbrick%20TP-Link%20Archer%20C7%20V2

The only differences are:
- Filename: ArcherC7v5_tp_recovery.bin
- Recovery mode: power up the router with both reset and WPS button pressed

I had to put a switch between the computer and the router because my TFTP server was not listening on the network interface when the router came up.

Use the included LAN cable and a PC with gigabit LAN. It should work.

Hey... I did manage to switch the firmware from ddwrt but not to stock but to openwrt.. Flashed via tftp.. When i was trying to flash the stock firmware i was continously getting time out errs in tftp, but with openwrt that didnot happen possibly because the size of the openwrt firmware is much smaller @just 4mb...will try to switch to stock tonyt....

So for a little more detail.

Device: TP-Link Archer C7 v5 (US)

I followed the steps here:
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/TP_Link_Archer_C7

specifically
- Factory Rest Factory firmware
- Download a factory-to-ddwrt file from the appropriate folder, Archer C7 v5.
- Installed via web
- Loaded 192.168.1.1
- 30/30/30 Reset
Device never came back from 30/30/30 reset

Using linux TFTP server and recovery mode tried to push out the current TP-Link factory image Archer C7(US)_V5_180425.... Failed

Using TFTP server and recover mode tried to push out OpenWRT openwrt-18.06.2-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v5-squashfs-factory.bin.... Success

Unable to get back to DDWRT or factory TP-Link using TFTP, sysupgrade (in OpenWRT) or mdt (in OpenWRT) and i dont want to stay with OpenWRT as it doesnt do what i need.

Im not sure where to post a request, but how can we get a mini image built for the TP-Link Archer C7 v5, I think the reason the TFTP is failing is the file size... the OpenWRT file is 4MB the DDWRT and Factory files are 15MB

I tried to make a serial connection, however its not working, im getting garbage on the screen, trying to work out how to fix this so i can give more detail as to whats not working

Ok after more digging, looks like the

upgrade has damaged the ART and u-boot partitions.

Can anyone create a backup of theirs and share it ?

dd if=/dev/$(grep -i '"art"' /proc/mtd | cut -c 1-4) of=/tmp/art.backup
dd if=/dev/$(grep -i '"factory-uboot"' /proc/mtd | cut -c 1-4) of=/tmp/factory-uboot.backup
dd if=/dev/$(grep -i '"u-boot"' /proc/mtd | cut -c 1-4) of=/tmp/u-boot.backup

these commands will back up the partitions to /tmp and can then be copied off wit SCP

Any chance anyone is willing to help me ? without these my device is essentially completely bricked Sad

Hi mate, I have the same model with stock firmware, If you can guide me I can help you.

I'm afraid I'm not quite sure how I could do that back-up, do I need to boot from a Live Linux distribution?

I'm currently using Windows 10.

Hello, my fellow forum participants. I just purchased a shiny new TP-Link Archer C7 to replace my WR1043ND that had failed a firmware update.

I use PureVPN, and just contacted their support who advised they do NOT support the V5. The DD-WRT router page doesn't have the v5, so I come on here to find an easy solution.

I have read this thread, and am a little more confused that I was!

LOL

What is the latest build? How do I determine chipset? and how do I install the DD-WRT firmware (easy method)

Please help!

Cheers,
Rick
