Maybe my point got lost in the details...

When you leave the NTP box blank....like <Kong> said to do....it always works

The log states it's using 216.229.0.49 it seams to also check 212.183.19 and 88.99.174.22...all aparently hard-coded into the firmware when "NTP box" is left blank

The 4 servers referenced in the last line of my last post are referring to DNScrypt servers not NTP servers

Not doubting your method works also, just stating that the only time I've had sporadic NTP issues is when I thought I knew better and specified my own

It did not get lost in the details, it just never worked for me and i have been trying for months to get DNSCrypt up and running and now that i have entered the IP that Alozaros mentioned, i now have DNSCrypt up and running.

Thank you very much Alozaros.

I think it did

You have to leave the box blank and only select a timezone

Now here is the catch that seems to get many

In my testing in the past...once you enter anything...whether it be a name or ip address....then delete it...something gets left behind in the nvram....causing it to not work properly

Only solution is to "erase nvram" if on an older firmware or "nvram erase" if on a more current build......gui reset to default may also work...but personally I never tested it for this issue

But hey..do whatever you think you have to do to make it work

No matter what I do, leave NTP blank of put that IP address I still get in the messages file
Insecure DS reply received, do upstream DNS servers support DNSSEC?

I tried cisco and adguard servers, any ideas why?

Take a look at your "dnscrypt-resolvers.csv" file..

Located @ /etc/dnscrypt/

See if your choice of servers actually supports DNSSEC....or turn it off

Not sure why you're relating that to NTP though?

OK, thanks about dnssec.
NTP, I was reading above that time server needs to be empty or that specific ip.

I just wanted to update an older post in case others stumbled upon it and were interested. Fully anonymized DNScryptv2 is available for DD-WRT via the dnscrypt-proxy project. To reduce the binary's filesize, you have to pack it using UPX (or another packer).

Here is a link to the documentation and current release:

https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/wiki/Installation-on-OpenWRT

Here is the announcement link with more details:

https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/960

Enjoy!

for running dnscrypt-proxy 2 via Entware on DDWRT.. have a look here..

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1172544#1172544

the old DNScrypt 1.95 is still running on DDWRT via GUI on high class, large flash size routers...

From what I see the only way to get to dnscrypt-proxy v2.
Is to walk away from dd-wrt Rolling Eyes & go to: OpenWrt

https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/dns/dnscrypt_dnsmasq_dnscrypt-proxy2

https://openwrt.org/packages/pkgdata/dnscrypt-proxy2

From what I see..you click on the green link in my signature and run DNScrypt-proxy v2 via Entware
and you dont need to go to OpenWRT... Laughing Laughing

Which is not included in their default build configuration, either. So, the point is moot.
