My router is Tplink TL841Nv9 with ddwrt-r31690,
the wifi will drop to a very low data rate occasionally.

I found when the wifi drop happens,
the result of 'iw ath0 info' is
Interface ath0
ifindex 6
wdev 0x2
addr 14:cc:20:b5:91:1e
type AP
wiphy 0
txpower 21.00 dBm

However, when wifi works normally,
the result of 'iw ath0 info' is
Interface ath0
ifindex 9
wdev 0x3
addr 14:cc:20:b5:91:1e
ssid kevin
type AP
wiphy 0
channel 3 (2422 MHz), width: 40 MHz, center1: 2432 MHz
txpower 21.00 dBm

And the wifi drop can be fixed manually by submit in the web 'wireless/basic settings', so I am wondering if it is possible to get the equivalent effect in shell command, thus the wifi drop issue could be workaround through crontab

It seems the ifconfig ath0 down and up doesnt work, the stopservice lan && startservice lan doesnt work either.

I found the answer.
It seems the web will do a restart of hostapd and dnsmasq,
but a restart of the hostapd is enough.

killall hostapd && hostapd -B -P /var/run/ath0_hostapd.pid /tmp/ath0_hostap.conf

Upgrade, it is probably not even an issue in newer builds. See the link in my signature.
