I'm not sure if this is a firmware specific issue, but I'm unable to connect an iPad to my virtual WLAN wl0.1 on my R7000. Connecting to either of the non-virtual WLANs work well. I've configured wl0.1 on 2.4GHz with wireless mode "Mixed". (I have an older 802.11b device on that WLAN.) The iPad is the "Air 2" and is running the latest iOS 11.2.2. The error message when trying to connect is simply "wrong password" - even though the password is correct.

It might be a simple config issue, but I seem to remember reading about problems getting iPads to connect properly with DD-WRT.

Netgear R8500 (Vietnam)
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r34320M kongac (01/03/1Cool
Reset: yes
Errors: Few

Only issue i have is that after i run the command to turn off the Antenna lights (gpio disable 15) they turn off for not even a second and then turn right back on. Is it possible to provide a fix for this?

What is the security used in wl0 ? Is it wpa2 personal ? If so, you need to choose wpa personal for wl0.1 to work. Also, is it bridged to existing bridge or not ? For unbridged or new bridge, you need to configure dhcp to assign ip adresss for the new subnet

How are you identifying that WL0/WL1 are crashing? I suspect something similar is happening with my 2.4ghz connection since my extenders and printer stop communicating unless I reboot.

EDIT: A router reboot solved this problem. Rolling Eyes The iPad now connects with ease.

My goal is to have wl0.1 for untrusted devices: IoT, new devices before they are proven worthy, etc. It's like a guest network. The security for both wl0 and wl0.1 is WPA2 Personal, with different passwords. wl0.1 is unbridged, with NAT masquerade, net isolation, and forced DNS redirection with a different subnet than my main IP range. The setup follows Kong's guide for guest networks at http://tips.desipro.de/2013/12/06/guest-wifi-setup-dd-wrt/

Other devices can connect to this configuration, but not the iPad. This isn't a major issue, as I can still connect the iPad via wl1, but it's something I'd like to fix some day.

I can see the rates dropping in wireless status screen. At the same time all wireless devices cannot connect anymore.
Since i rolled back to 31830M I supposed to have this sorted out. But no, I already had a failure of WL0 again. Mad I don't know what's going on here, but maybe it's a faulty driver that was introduced with the newer firmwares and that now remains present despite of downgrading!? I'm not an expert, so I can only guess.

Errors: random reboot and freeze

Since 28815M I cannot have a stable R7000.

I don't think this is a hardware issue as if switch to the netgear firmware I'm 100% stable.

I'm using a very simple configure (to try to figure out where is the problem:
- static IP WAN
- no dhcp or dnsmasq (handled by another machine)
- one wireless interface (2.4G), with everything at default values except networkmode (NG-Mixed)
- upnp enabled
- dropbear

The R7000 reboot or loose connection (or both).
When the router is in this states I can't ping any machines on the LAN.
If I disconnect the LAN cable of the router everything is fine again.

I don't get any crashes or errors logs (klog activated and remote syslog) even when I leave a tail -f /var/log/message on a ssh

Did you "erase nvram" from command prompt and put your settings in manually?

You say you have a simple setup but you have a static WAN but no DHCP, that is a strange combination, normally without a DHCP you have the router setup as a Wireless Acces Point so you have no WAN at all.

Why not test the router in Default Mode or if you want to use it as a WAP then follow this guide: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Access_Point

Of course hardware failure is not impossible as DDWRT uses diferent/more areas of FLASH RAM, although not likely

Hi

Yes of course, I've erased the nvram ...

About the static WAN that is not the problem, I can reach internet and anyway I can add that the R7000 is stable with dd-wrt if I use it as a router without wireless.

But as soon I turn on the Wifi I start getting crashes.

Just a heads up...
Sorry if it's been mentioned already...

https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/7qb3bo/having_wifi_issues_lately_router_problems_linked/

I've been going crazy the last couple of weeks.. erasing router different firmware and so on..

And it was Google all the time!
It's apparently an UDP flood....

A TP-Link engineer has posted an explanation of the issue
