I just upgraded my Netgear WNDR3700 v2 from r20453 to r34080 - a long overdue upgrade Smile

I've always had Wireless Network Mode set to N-Only, but from the wiki, this option is now no longer functioning correctly and it's recommended to set it to NG-Mixed. This works fine for clients connecting to the main AP SSID, but those on the virtual AP I've noticed are all at G-speeds.

This is confirmed both in the TX/RX Rate in Status_Wireless.asp as "54" and doing a speedtest. Clients of course support N (iPhone 6S/7, two laptops, etc) all show up as 54.

Any ideas?

Most likely it is just a setting that is missing. Wireless N speed requires either WPA2 + AES encryption or Open (not recommended). Is the Virtual AP encrypted or open?

Go through the recommended settings here first: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Atheros/ath_wireless_settings

WMM is another requirement for N speeds. Also, short Preamble is good to have on the physical network. HT40 will double your connection speed on the physical and most likely also the virtual network.

If you want to be nice to your neighbours, only use channel 1, 6 or 11 on the 2.4GHz band. Channel 3 will overlap with anyone that uses channel 1 or channel 6.

Read the link I posted earlier, every setting is explained there.

At the very least read these settings: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Basic_Wireless_Settings

Solved! Thank you!

I'll read up more on WMM

Thanks, I'll enable as all clients are N/AC only. Missed that one Smile
