1) I really wish gamers wouldn't expect so much out of wireless networking. Wire your gaming devices up with cat 5e or cat 6. That is your only hope to be a lo-ping-ho. Yes, I said it, because it just seems like most folks here are bitching because their World of Warcrapt is lagging or some silly shit because they are willfully ignorant. /noapologies
2) I have seen no public commits on this, so BrainSlayer obviously didn't decide to complete porting it because his test device got damaged as <Kong> previously stated.
I ended up having to buy an 8000p on an emergency basis (work from home, router bit it, only one available) a few weeks ago, and once I got my network stable again, came here planning to get back to DD-WRT only to find this thread and be sad.
I'm not in a position to donate a full router, but would gladly chip in if we can get 10-15 folks willing to send enough donations for the developer to buy one (figure that's easier than trying to import one). I've donated to Brainslayer in the past (like going back to the WRT54G days), but in this case I'd want to use the donation specifically to try and get an 8000p Port.
Anyone left lurking on this thread that'd be willing to chip in?
(and for those wondering, I had to re-register as I can't remember what ID or email address I used way back when. )
TBH you are far better off finding a deal on a Qualcomm Atheros router. R7500v2, EA8500, R7800, R9000.
The driver support from Broadcom is a big sigh. R8000 users are relying on an experimental driver ATM.
Re-register been there done that, lol.
Trust me, had I had the time to worry about it, I definitely would have been looking at other options (Netgear Genie makes me want to cry). But in the case, I had an hour to have a new router up and running because of a workshop I was running that afternoon, so my option was what was on the shelf at Best Buy that day. Then I didn't think much of it for a while, and finally went to get around to getting DD-WRT so I could get things like I want them, only to see the sad news. But hey, it's 2020. Not like I expected something to go right.
