I had problems with my android tablet disconnecting from my wrt1900acs v1. My channel control was set on auto but I decided to set the channel manually and I have not had a problem with disconnects since.

well, i'm certainly glad to see things have calmed down with blenn. hell, i always thought these boards were for the expression of ideas and opinions.

if one doesn't care for the topic, they can choose to IGNORE it rather than simply berate the author.

over several years, i too have had a few linksys routers of which 2 are wrts. all's i can say is sumpin' ain't right with linksys. kong certainly let his support for linksys give up the ghost. that certainly was a clue.

i just bought an rt-ac86u. it's not perfect especially with its network map function and it's known to drop connections. so far, it's proven to be a significant improvement over the 3200acm! we'll see how it performs after a couple months but i'm smiling. we'll see if they'll fix their map issue.

if @looking... doesn't have one, mine is a refurb that's less than a year old.

as an aside, i had the very same setup with the 6580 and the 1900ac. i bought the 6580 new after tw started charging monthly fees. it eventually started logging errors but i just don't recall the symptoms. i saw stuff in its log and called tw. everyone thought it was normal but i insisted on an answer so they put me to level 2 out of greensboro. a tech tested and her opinion was that it was going bad. replaced it with the cr700 and so far so good.

IMO If you are looking to have a Stable wireless network you should be afraid, if your just looking for a good wired network platform you should be fine.

Good luck!!

I agree with Mark. I will go one step further and suggest you look at Netgear r7800 which runs dd-wrt and voxel or Asus RT-AC86. Doesn't run dd-wrt, but RMerlin makes a build based on Asus firmware for it that is nice.

IMHO don't break the seal on the box.

My 2 cents so far:

Recently bought a WRT3200ACM and it's been running just fine with r35034 and sploit's settings here. It's disappointing that the chipset is inherently flawed from what I've read and that progress seems to have stagnated. Regardless I'm happy as long as this build remains stable for my purposes.

I didn't have high expectations considering it was only ~$84 during the Ebay linksys-official-store refurb deal.

Pretty happy with my Linksys WRT1900ACv2.

That sounds a lot like an operator or config error on the linksys. I certainly dont have these problems on my gigabit connection. In fact, my WRT1900ACv2 with DD-WRT outperforms the default router my ISP supplied me with (a TP-LINK AC1900), thats still sitting on my shelf.

Well, for what its worth, you are quite incorrect.

For one I don't use my Isp's equipment for one reason it's Crap, and it's free with Charter in my area.

Secondly Mojo has been working with the Wrt's since the beginning of time (sorry Mojo)lol

So I'm quite sure he knows how to setup the Wrt's.

As a plain router they are very good in my opinion, but the wireless part of the router Sucks and is No way STABLE in any shape or form. !!!!

But for the retail price they are asking there are a lot better choices out there that DO have a Stable wireless radio!!!

But I'm glad it's working for you at this moment!!!
Good luck with that.

Mark

If you unable to get more than 110 down then you are seriously having some finger trouble. As said, my latency and downloads are excellent. (Wired or Wireless)

Time to own up… I’ve too have thrown the towel in on the WRT3200ACM. I could have lived with the slow wireless but the last couple of dd-wrt builds were dropping clients and hindering remote access so it was time to move on. I’ll still use dd-wrt in a lesser capacity but for the foreseeable future it’s done here as the primary router and FW. I put the RT-AC86U in service yesterday and no complaints. There is a little learning curve with Merlin but that's it

I thought the AC86U might have an issue doing gig Wan but what I’ve seen so far is the RT-AC86U its beating the 3200 all-the-way-around even though the Ethernet speeds are marginal. There was no question it would beat the 3200 out on Wi-Fi but I was surprised to see it outperform the 3200 over Ethernet. I relocated the RT-AC86U which required an additional 60 feet of cabling and still have great results. The wireless seems to be dialed-in nicely so going to leave it alone. The only other device that came close in my surplus over wireless was the RT-AC68U configured as a AP. The R7800 didn’t perform well wired or wireless so that’s gone.

So not that Mojo needed the validation but the RT-AC86U & Merlin FW is definitely a great combination. I guess I'll have to change my sig and avatar Idea

RT-AC86U Ethernet/off hours

RT-AC86U Ethernet just prior to post time

RT-AC86U 5GHZ just prior to post
