LEDE Firmware is available for the WRT32X.

https://davidc502sis.dynamic-dns.net/releases/#32x

*Note: The lede-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys-wrt32x-squashfs-factory.img is for flashing from Linksys Venom GUI. It is just like the DD-WRT factory-to-ddwrt.bin file.
The lede-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys-wrt32x-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin is for upgrading from within the LEDE GUI (also known as LUCI). Same as the DD-WRT webflash.bin file.

I can confirm it runs well on my WRT32X. However, I can not confirm if it can be flashed via Linksys Venom GUI.
I ended up flashing from serial to correct a screw-up I had made during test flashing DD-WRT. Unsuccessfully I might add.

My personal opinion on LEDE is I much prefer DD-WRT, but it is a vast improvement over stock firmware.

I renamed the lede-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys-wrt32x-squashfs-factory.img to venom.img and flashed via Serial with run update_both_images.

As I far as I know, the above LEDE Factory WRT32X image should upload fine from the Linksys Venom GUI.

@spurious -
i too flashed the davidc wrt32x build on my wrt32xb.
i used the web interface for manual flash. it worked.

a few questions for you or others -
the 'advanced reboot' feature shows 'Warning: This system does not have two partitions!Warning: This system does not have two partitions!'

what is interesting is that the david2 build flashed to the first boot image. lede fw_printenv reveals boot_part =1.
if i fw_setenv boot_part 2, then i can reboot to the factory image.

i'm wondering if yours does the same?
is this a buggy advanced_reboot module, do I need to use the uboot serial mothod, or is this a result of having the 'wrt32xB' verion of hardware?

thanks for the alert on this.
since openwrt forum is down...

I just checked and I get the same warning in Advanced Reboot. I do have the LEDE / OpenWRT build on both partitions, but the strange part is when I use SSH to switch - I had to reconfigure LuCI as if a new installation.
I also had to reset the SSH-RSA Key.

It's acting like 2 seperate routers instead of a dual-partition with a common NVRAM.

Admittedly I know very little about LEDE & OpenWRT so this could be normal.
Or it could be a bug from the developers slapping this fix together very quickly.

I really don't know if this is a drawback or a benefit yet. Only time will tell.

Either way, I am grateful to the LEDE / OpenWRT Developers for the firmware. It could shoot fire from the WAN port and it would still be better than the Stock Venom Firmware! Mr. Green

Edit: Maybe a solution would be to flash factory image first then sysupgrade image. Then it may recognize the dual-partitions?
Just a quess...

i sysupgraded from partition 1 (davidc build) and it wrote the new davidc image to partition 2 and loaded that image.
still, advanced reboot showed no knowledge of other partition.
must be a problme with advanced reboot; this worked on my old wrt3200acm.

i agree this a big step forward.

Cool. Thanks! I'm sure they'll get it sorted out soon. For the time being I'm just gonna configure both partitions exactly the same to avoid any problems if I need to switch.

I sent everything to Brainslayer. Maybe he can use it as a 'cheat sheet' to help get a DD-WRT build for the WRT32X / WRT32XB.

The best option is to get him a WRT32X, but that'll take time.

When flashing from Serial the 3 options are:

run flash_pri_image (Flashes firmware to Partition 1)

run flash_alt_image (Flashes firmware to Partition 2)

run update_both_images (Flashes firmware to both Partitions)

Those are the Serial Firmware Flash commands.

Now that an official OpenWRT / LEDE build is out you may be able to flash via SSH with sysupgrade. The WRT32X stock firmware is OpenWRT based so this should work.

https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/generic.sysupgrade

https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/techref/sysupgrade

Good luck!

Yes. If you have access to the Venom GUI just upload the lede-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys-wrt32x-squashfs-factory.img in the Router Administration section.

What version of the Linksys Stock Venom Firmware are you on?
Do you have a WRT32X or a WRT32XB?

The current version for the WRT32X is: 1.0.180404.58
