It didn't work for me. Upgraded and it killed eth0 (the 4 port LAN switch). Like I couldn't even get a link light. I downgraded back to r31924, cleared settings, and updated again. Again, LAN switch dead. So I'm stuck.

This was an issue that only occurred by flashing to the latest build? Ouch.

From what I'm gathering, reading different threads, is that r36168 is a good build. However, I can't find any real proclamation that it's stable and solid and a worthy upgrade from 31924.

I'd switch back to stock firmware many months ago (and tried out Gargoyle, which had its own fair share of problems), waiting for something better to come along. Have our prayers finally been answered? I've been dying to switch back to DD-WRT.

Yeah, it happened only when upgrading to r36168, both times. Downgrading to r31924 was the fix both times. I ended up buying a Netgear R7800 and now that I have it in production, I'm going to attempt to do a completely fresh install and nuke my settings file to see if that makes a difference.

Is r31924 still the best option? I've been reading positive posts about r36xxx, which had me hoping r31924's been usurped.

I've been running r36168 for over a week without any issues on my WRT1900AC v1. I have 20 devices on my network, mostly wired, but with about 4 devices on wifi. No disconnects, have had high throughput (see speedtest below), and the router has been stable. I'm not doing any QoS and have 2 USB HDDs servicing the network as Samba shares. Overall, I've been very happy with the performance. Later this week I'm going to update to r36330 and give that a whirl.

Does USB performance do better with r36168 than r31924? r31924 has been slow for me.

Upgrade my WRT1900ACv1 from r36410 to r36527, no reset.
Been fine for the last 4 days.
In fact r36168, r36242, r36410 were all good too on my V1 unit.
It *may* now be safe to assume that the WRT1900ACv1 can use any DD-WRT version from r36168 onwards without the restart issue that stopped us at r31924 previously.

Thanks for the updates guys - this is really promising. I'm going to wait a few more weeks to see how you continue to get on, then will take the plunge to r36168 or newer myself (from r31924).

Please do keep us updated! Idea

I have updated my WRT1900AC V1 from r31924 to r36168 a few days ago. It seems to work pretty good. I have only one wired PC connected to it and about 4 wireless devices. It seems my phone showed me a couple times a non-internet connection when I was connected to the 5G wifi. I didn't have that "problem" on the 2GHz wifi.

I upgraded through dd-wrt web-interface without any resets.

Hope this helps.
Thanks

So I went and updated my WRT1900AC V1 from r36168 to r36645.
I definitely had issues with the second radio on 5g. My cellphone will indicate connected but no internet after a few hours of working just fine. It doesn't do that on any other wifis.

Will see how this release does.

Just wanted to update and say that my cellphone doesn't have the connection problems with r36645 for some reason. Everything seems to work fine.
