Router/Version: Asus RT-AC88U
Firmware: DDD-WRT v3.0-r33555 std (10/20/17)
Flashed: asus_rt-ac88u-firmware.trx
Kernel: Linux 4.4.93 #2153 SMP Fri Oct 20 06:46:54 CEST 2017 armv7l
Previous: ASUS firmware
Mode/Status: AP
Reset: 30/30/30
new router, loaded firmware from ASUS mini-loader. 2.4/5GHz test good, DDNS to zoneEdit updated, port forwarding services working.
Issue/Errors: changing overclock setting to 800 -> 600 crashed and sort of bricked the router.
Context : Upgraded to this version and it was working but I changed the over clock setting from 800 to 600, applied settings and the router shutdown and never came back up.
I managed to get to ASUS CFE(emergency recovery mode) but started flashing DDWRT but the power went out and now I cant get back to the CFE to reflash. Router keeps on rebooting for some reason. Can an interrupted flash screw with the CFE bootloader ?

The power went out while flashing??? Man I think that's the only way I know to brick an Asus. _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)
Press abd hold the button while you turn power on.
Not the reset button, but the other.
the wps button? I tried but it isn't letting me get into CFE recovery mode. If I leave the router on it will reboot every 30 seconds so I think its stuck in a boot loop
ASlso yeah, dont change clocksetting for this version of ddwrt is the main takeaway. I know this isnt a help thread but thanks.

Fixing the ntpclient issue at startup, the time is then shown correctly in the top right corner. Enter this into the startup script:
Code:
# Set the ntpclient (hack fix)
while true; do
sleep 2
ntpclient 0.us.pool.ntp.org
break;
done &
