Firmware build r36698 would not take using the Linksys firmware GUI. The GUI would report as if DD-WRT had successfully flashed but would never boot to it if it did indeed flash.

I resolved this by using an earlier revision -- in this case r34311 (2017-12-29) -- to do the factory to DD-WRT step and then upgraded to r36698.
