@Adamcarter You can't so far flash anything other than the WRT32X firmware as there are no other images for the WRT32X out there. You'll need to ask BrainSlayer to build an image for WRT32X which should not be a problem as all it takes is WRT32X dts file available in the GPL source. I only wish there was an easy instruction to compile DD-WRT on our own

Been there , done that. That post is ~3 years old.
Yeah fortunately I can read. Last posts are from this year, so it seems to be in effect still. _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)
I have been re-wording your cross flashing steps, and wanted to point out one small piece.
In the initial flash, you have us setting the env var's before uploading our flash image via tftp for flashing.
Then in your reverting instructions you have us loading the 3200acm image as step one, then setting up the env for flashing.
Before you get questions on it, might want to have both processes loading the firmware up as step one, or as the final step?
EDIT: Here is how I re-worded it. I streamlined the env var setting, since we are only "preparing" for the flash, I see no reason why we can't list the mtdparts, nandboot, altnand etc.... in the same order.
Code:
rango.img to download: http://www108.zippyshare.com/v/lgm43Bri/file.html
Initial flash to 32X process:
Set PC's IP to 192.168.1.254 / 255.255.255.0 and serve provided rango.img via TFTP
Revert to OEM process:
Set PC's IP to 192.168.1.254 / 255.255.255.0 and serve via TFTP any WRT3200ACM firmware file (only full factory images), be that LEDE, OpenWrt, official firmware and change the name to rango.img

"easy instruction to compile DD-WRT" wont ever exist as such, if you ever compiled anything you would know. I meant to say "here is this, check if you can work it out, cheers, have a good day Sir". _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)

May want to retract what you said about cybernook's compile experience. I have run his LEDE builds, yes he did them, and they ran well. So he does have experience compiling. Not good to jump on someone when you do not know their background. _________________ Unifi Security Gateway:Unifi Firmware Netgear r7800:Voxel Firmware Modem:Netgear CM500V voice and Data. I have run a number of his images that he compiled himself. Excellent as far as I am concerned. _________________ My "WRT" rant, and why I have gone ddwrt on x86, no more consumer routers. ( ac86u as access points & bridges )
It's all good guys No worries. Thanks though for chiming in, I am just going to hang back not as to not derail. I don't think there will be an end, so best just to let someone else have the last word sometimes.
Pretty excited to try this crossflash. More so getting that "custom" feel, but with vendor closed source drivers.

Then he knows perfectly more than me that you can't do a guide for dummies for compiling a firmware. _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)
Easiest point of entry for you sounds like windows. Putty and tftp both come available for windows, are what most guides online will be centered around.
