when entering the tutorial commands to change partition and reboot, i've only had success using ssh. when using the dd-wrt shell, the get boot_part works not sure if set boot_part is working cause i'm unable to reboot afterwards.

that said, i'm fairly certain the reboot command fails, since it doesn't reboot. can someone tell me if this is a known bug or a personal problem?[/b]

I've never had a problem with Telnet or PuTTY. I mostly use Windows Telnet Client

ubootenv set boot_part 1 (or 2 depending on partition currently in use)
ENTER
reboot
ENTER

It then reboots to opposite partition.

Those commands are to be used from the command prompt. To get to the command prompt you need to either ssh or telnet into the router then use them.
So, in this case I would rate this as a user issue, personal problem. Very Happy

I've seen it before once or twice after doing a firmware update. Don't know why it "sticks". Try using command 'sudo shutdown -r now' instead.

thanks, bill. glad you're watching. someone may need to revise the tutorial text though -
"When you install DD-WRT over stock, it installs on a different partition. You can use the following command by entering it in DDWRT commands on the administration tab, Telnet or SSH to determine what partition DD-WRT is running on."

. . . just sayin'!

all in all, your advice has been tops! i truly appreciate your comments regarding your lede experience. very helpful.
