Can anyone using this with the latest DDWRT build confirm it's working and safe to flash?

I bought this one to kickstart a gigabit network but the stock firmware is super lackluster, can't even set a DNS server on its own DHCP server (for Pihole), uPnP isn't working properly under stock too. Connection is unstable at times too.

Hi there guys. I am reaching out to you for help.
I am using build 41984M.

I have set the following static route through the web interface:

Select set number : 1(DSL4G)
Route name : DSL4G
Metric : 0
Destination LAN NET : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask : 0.0.0.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
Interface : LAN&WLAN

I would like to toggle the gateway between 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.254 quickly with SSH.

Can somebody help me make a command that changes and applies the gateway to 192.168.1.254 ?

Thank you in advance!

I tried .40559 on my DIR-882 on Saturday and the 5Ghz performance was horrendous. I was only getting 70mbps sitting right next to the router.

I tried various different channels and forced 80mhz. 2.4ghz seemed fine.

What's the most stable build of DD-WRT for these?

Is r41874 still the firmware of choice on these?

I don't have your router, but I can tell you development became experimental after 12-29-2019-r41813.

It means that he obviously doesn't realize all development in this firmware is experimental... but seriously, he is talking about the kernel-level smbd development going on.

Many changes began happening all at once after this build date; r41813 is stable for me (and PPPoE works unlike r41874).

Also playing with LTO flags, but these are just two examples.

Can anyone with a DIR-882 confirm which firmware version is best to use?

The stock D-Link firmware is too restrictive.

I haven´t found a release that has been absolutely stable, so YMMV because others have reported good things on releases that I can´t get to function.

It's a great router just really frustrating how D-Link have crippled the interface on it.

ICMP on WAN should be a basic feature of any router.

Now, it could be I have been upgrading wrongly? I have simply been flashing over r39296. If anybody is using a later version using PPPoE, please post. I may get brave enough one day to try again.

If I remember correctly when upgrading you have to reset all our settings as the jump from r39296 to the latest version is so huge (completely different kernel versions).

Hi,
Just bought this router from amazon since it was at a good price.
I'm new at dd-wrt but can understand the concepts and mostly everything about this.
The thing is that i installed the latest version and then reversed to (r39296). After this i'm having some troubles:
I've lost the combo Username/Pass and tried everything to work it back by hard reseting, but without success...

Going to try factory reset to native firmware and then reinstall again the latest firmware from DD-WRT.

I would appreciate if somebody could share what's the better build overall to have on day to day with good WiFi speeds. My main objective is to configure NordVPN (and i've done it with success before i lost the access to the router) and turn it on when my ISP blocks my IPTV.

Regards Wink
