Installed Brainslayer r33006 on wrt3200acm. clean install from linksys stock and noticed the 2.4g wifi signal was intermittent unlike the 5g wifi that was rock solid.changes channels and that for the 2.4g but still the same. had to revert back to r32868 both 2.4g & 5g signals rock solid on that.my setup is 2 linksys wrt3200acm, 1 stock & 1 running brainslayers r32868 with vpn.

I would have left the WRT3200ACM swapped in as my primary router, except I don't think WDS works between the AC and ACM due to chip set differences or I am not setting it up correctly.

I've been able to successfully implement WDS with my 3200ACM as primary and my 1900AC(v1) as secondary.

Using v32597 on the 3200 and v31924 on the 1900.

Let me know what steps you're following for setup. I'll send you some screen shots if you get stuck.

Cheers

Had my first auto reboot at about 2.5 days of uptime. Same as previous version.
Reverted back to 31924.

Question: Are these problems perhaps only related to router's WiFi FW code & the WiFi driver? Can we say that the rest FW code (non-WiFi parts) of the build is ok & stable now?

Thus would I have a stable, fault free, secure router, if I disable all WiFi and run my wrt3200 as a straight ethernet wired router only?
If so, I could get the advantages of its cpu speed, ram etc for vpn, firewall, privoxy, logging etc but avoid all the current problems which are showing up? (including the reboot issues) ideas?

Has anyone tried running & using this r33006 build as wired only with all WiFi disabled for any extended times?
If so how did it go? And with which router was this done?

fwiw, i had over 30 hours on r33006 with attached nas and nvr security system before i enabled openvpn/expressvpn services and did a manual reboot.

i'm up for 20+ hours now after doing several "applies" in going back and forth from enabling and disabling vpn. this was due to difficulty streaming vids on netflix and amazon with vpn enabled. i've since decided to use vpn at the device level instead of the router. very slow speeds but i can live with that for now.

vpn aside, r33006 is running well with high wireless speeds and stability so far. will check for reboots and report back if experienced.

To add more details to my previous post:

I was on my iPad (2.4GHz) when I noticed I lost my connection. The iPad still had it's WiFi symbol in the top left corner, but no internet.
The only other active connection was a Windows 10 Desktop PC with 2 websites opened.

I made it to the router within about 90 seconds of first noticing the lost connection.
All front panel leds were normal.
I was about to log in to the router when...it shut down and did the familiar self-reboot (first one).
At the time VPN Client was 'disabled'.

As far as I can tell the WRT1900AC v1 just does not like the updated wireless drivers.

* 31924 has performed flawlessly since first install.

ahh, i missed the 1900ac part. Smile so perhaps i should still feel lucky. 31924 was a gem for me on the v1, so i fully get it. i've said it before but if there was ever a release that should be labeled stable, 31924 would get my vote.

Actually the wrt1900ac v1 does not like the 4.9 kernel. Its not the drivers. Davidc502 over on LEDE makes a LEDE build with a 4.4 kernel and latest drivers that does not have a reboot issue.

One of these days I need to try out some other builds.

Next year when my ipVanish subscription runs out I may switch over.

Does LEDE or any others have SoftEther VPN Support?

I'm on 1200Acv1 and my 5Ghz is pretty solid however my 2.4ghz is struggling to go beyond 20mbps. Does anyone have a copy of 31924?

I don't do vpn so I do not know the answer. Maybe someone else will speak up.

@spuriousoffspring
Not sure why you'd wait until your ipvanish subscription expires? DD-wrt builds will run OpenVPN as a client which is what you need to access your VPN service account. So you can switch to BS builds and try it any time?

directions to use OpenVPN with ipvanish are here:_
https://support.ipvanish.com/customer/portal/articles/2762802

If ipvanish doesn't meet your needs, there's no reason to keep it for a minute let alone for a year, is there?

WRT1900acv2 3 days plus uptime, no issues so far

I've been running dd-wrt since 2008(geez has it really been almost 10 years??). Used to test every new build back then EKO, BS and original. Settled on the recommended BS build from 2010 been running it ever since. Over the last 8 years or so I haven't really bothered with it much and it ran my E3000 for years.
Decided to finally upgrade to the wrt1900acv2 and flashed the latest build 3 days ago been running stable ever since. The router is in my garage and I live in Florida(got a small house fan on it ).

A simple config for now. No issues with 5ghz or 2ghz good signal and proper connection speeds(after I read up on dual band... yeah I haven't bothered with it for that long) I'll probably set the e3000 up as a repeater and it loos like there some new features to play with Smile

After approximately 3 days, both the ACv1 and ACSv1 wifi stopped working. Rebooted my networking gear (modem, firewall, WRTs) and still had to reboot a couple of wired clients in order to get all clients on the LAN. Seems this release is not stable.

At this point, I am close to giving up all hope WRT will ever support these routers with any degree of reliability. I just might switch back to stock firmware.
