Can I set the dhcp range from something other than 192.168.1.x to 192.168.86.x?

Would I have to change it from dhcp server to dhcp forwarder?

You have to change the lan address of the router.

There are 3 classes of private addresses.

Class A: 10.0.0.0 / 255.0.0.0
Class B: 172.16-32.0.0 /255.255.0.0
Class C: 192.168.0.0 /255.255.255.0
