I am running DD-WRT on a Linksys WRT1200AC
I have a 250g per month usage. There is a certain teenager in my house that would like to play dumb every time he pushes us over our 250g limit, making claims that he doesn't use a lot of our data.
I would like to give his set of IP addresses, (his computer, his cell phone, and his PS3) a limited amount of Gigs.
I'd like to assign him say 100gigs for the month, for all of his devices. Not 100g each, but 100g total for the 3 IP addresses. Just to teach him a lesson when he's without data for 5-10 days before the end of our internet cycle.
You might need a Gargoyle OS compatible router...just look and read in their forum as WRT1200AC is may be compatible too just find out how to flash instructions, but in general Gargoyle OS is good only for QoS and Quotas all the rest of the stuff is a bit old school buggy or not updated... not good for general use...where DD-WRT is much better and updated frequently... _________________ Atheros

Restricting usage beyond a particular threshold is a tough challenge... for YAMon or any other tool.
YAMon already captures the total traffic on a per device basis and it would not be too difficult to use that info to alter `iptable` rules to drop traffic for a particular IP address... But I expect that like my son, your child will quickly learn how to spoof both IP and MAC addresses and then you're chasing a moving target.
I've formulated some ideas on how to solve this but have not had enough time to implement/test the solution.

Hi Al,
Yesterday, I installed YAMon to my WRT1900ACv1. I plugged internal USB drive (I use for FTP). YAMon works perfectly. I didn't read features of YAMon carefully before I install YAMon. I was thinking I can monitor & limit usage of internet. But only I can monitor. AS you said you can alter iptables and you can limit usage. Don't worry for spoofing MAC address and IP Address. We definitely need it.
My ISP gives me 150GB per month. I have one hobby garden and I installed IP Camera there. I have small VPN router in my garden. I have 400mb daily cap free public internet in my garden. Now I want to monitor this VPN clinet and limit its quota to 350mb/day. If you implement different rules like daily weekly monthly limits it would be great.
My first impressions about YAMon, nice interface and nice software. Thank you very much. I would like to donate but PAYPAL is not valid in my country. From beginning of this month I used 40GB download. I tried to add this difference. I added but after that Monthly Usage Breakdown tab inaccessible. So I give up. I will wait next month. It keeps monitoring. Work like a charm. Thank you! _________________ Kaan's World | @mkaand | PLEX Archive | Trakt.tv
