This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29621_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Yeah, I saw another thread with that date. If this is a repeat thread with just a different date, I apologize. I just saw a new date and no new thread, so I posted one.

Astrill applet doesn't get IP addresses from servers with this release (OpenVPN?) on R8000. Reverted back to the 08/09 33010 release and it is all fine again.

After a day up had over 300k receive errors. Nothing special enabled. Rebooted it to see if it does the same thing. If it does it again will revert back to build 8/9/17.

I checked the changelog I haven't seen any updates from Kong. Only Kong knows what the difference/changes are.

I'm staying the the August Release since I have over 30 days of uptime.

Update...

Seen these changes at the above posts.....

I didn't dig into the detail too much, but it looks like some of the Linux kernel changes (such as those between Linux 4.4.80 and 4.4.87) are described here in some detail:

https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v4.x/

It's a bit more than I can process. Kong would be the one to explain why he chose to keep the same DD-WRT version with the updated Kernel...

One guess on why he updated the kernel is the Linux (and other) Bluetooth vulnerabilities that were noted in articles such as this one at Ars Technica:

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/09/bluetooth-bugs-open-billions-of-devices-to-attacks-no-clicking-required/

Just guessing though...

Changes are:

-dnsmasq crash/security fix for CVE-2017-13704
-kernel fixes
-removed softether as it is not compatible with latest openssl anymore, but added a new ipsec server that uses certs, just a few clicks and you can setup vpn ikev2 with iOS or Win7, allowing to connect to your home network or tunnel all traffic through the vpn, no ipsec client support yet

I do not have time right now to sync with latest svn, thus just kept the tested revision and only added the security fixes.
