Hope that you can help me out. I just recently purchased a WRT1900AC Ver 1 off of ebay, was running fine and thought I could flash it with Kong's latest firmware. Went into update firmware, found the bin I downloaded, flashed and said now resetting and stayed there for a few minutes. I closed out chrome and tried to enter again 192.168.1.1 and no luck.
The power light is flashing and nothing else.
I searched on-line a lot and tried the hold reset for 15 seconds and then power cycle 3 times, once another light comes on, but it never stops blinking.
So it seems I need to pickup a USB to TTL cable, I am hoping that my company has one that I can borrow for the weekend ( I work for a company that does aerospace component repair). If not I will have to buy one.
Try the power cycle thing again...do it "4" times. You might not be counting "3" correctly.
It's my understanding (and experience) that, when you flash this unit, it switches the partition. So, the partition you flashed from should still be intact.
To reset and boot to stock if you brick DD-WRT installation
1. Assuming the router is on, turn it off.
2. Turn it back on... the power light will illuminate and then go out briefly as it prepares to boot. As soon as it goes out, turn it off again. Repeat this step three times, leaving the router on after the third time you turn it off.
3. Let it boot. It should return to stock after you let it boot.

I turn on router. On light and esata light both come
On. Esata go bright momentarially power goes bright momentarily and then power blinks. I wait for esata to go out and switch off on and also wait until all lights go off and then power reset. No luck.
Looks like you flashed the Kong bin file but you have to flash the Kong factory_to_dd-wrt.img file from Linksys UI.

So good morning all....
Definitely can't recover using the on and off switch method. Tried the 30/30/30 too, no luck.
So I discovered work doesn't have a USB to TTL cable so I ordered one on amazon, due in Sunday to the house.
I have been doing some research and there doesn't seem to be a cut clear way to upload new firmware on the router.
And I found and downloaded kwboot and also the u-boot-nand.kwb and u-boot-uart.kwb files. But that is where I am stuck.
1) I am assuming I need some type of terminal program such as putty.
2) It looks like then you issue a command using a terminal program. But where do you place the kwboot file? and then you type in the command ./kwboot –t /dev/ttyUSB0 –b u-boot-uart.kwb –a
3) Looks like you have to setup a TFTP server. Any experience on this? how, where? Any suggestions? I am using a laptop running windows 10, but do have a PC running windows 7 if easier.
Nothing is in one spot, or concise instructions. Definately confused.

Sorry I know it is newbie questions.
You only need the .Kwb files if your boot loader (Uboot) is messed up, which I doubt it is, but if it is there are instructions out there. Here are some links to help you with the programs etc you need.

I need. I plan on using tftpd since I am running win 10
And downloaded the linksys firmware. Plan on flashing both images and then use linksys GUI to load ddwrt. Learned my lesson will load img rather than bin.

I ordered my usb-ttl cable and should recieve it end of next week (im in canada).. i have a windows10 PC as well so i will use the same procedure that you will.. keep us posted plz

Hello All. Amazon delivered and I am setup, completed and running again! Thanks to all that helped me.
So this is what I did.
1) Purchased Jbtek USB to TTL cable on Amazon. $6.99
2) Downloaded putty and downloaded tftp64
3) inserted USB cable and allowed it to download drivers.
4) disabled wireless and shut off firewall
5) Followed youtube video that was posted before exactly (thanks ATHF) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN7u79EupGQ&app=desktop .
6) Used the Linksys drivers posted here http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=306142
7) Worked like a charm. Went to Linksys GUI and updated to Kong's latest DD-WRT through the interface. Used Kong's latest .img (wont make that mistake again).
