Hello, im a bit of a noob regarding this so please bear with me.

I searched these forums and read through guides and so on but was having trouble figuring out which firmware I was supposed to use.

Anyways, I finally used the one i found here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads
Downloads › betas › 2017 › 09-27-2017-r33413 › dlink-dir860l-a1

There are two files there factory-to-ddwrt.bin and dir860-webflash.bin. I used the factory to ddwrt-one since i was updating from my factory dlink firmware.

It seems to have worked well (although I havent tested that much yet).

Am I done now or should I also use the dir860-webflash.bin (i noticed a big difference in size between the two files)?

Hi cechise!

Welcome to the forum.
You did right! Now you just need to flash again, but this time with dir860-webflash.bin.

I have used this build now for a couple of days without problems!

Cheers Smile

I'd guess the OEM firmware expects a large size to allow the flash. Normally, there isn't any difference b/t the factory vs webflash except the header, but not sure here.

Others have flashed them in succession, but you should be fine to leave it as is, but next time you update it (and be sure to read the New Build threads, as there have been a lot of bad builds lately) use the webflash.

Hi,
Please help. I did a flash using factory-to-ddwrt.bin on D-link DIR860L A1, but somehow failed and now router showing orange light staying on. Tried to hard reset many times no use. Set my lap top 192.168.0.2 and tried to access 192.168.0.1 through browser, nothing happens. What will I do to recover ? Please help.

Default IP address of a router flashed with DD-WRT is 192.168.1.1 - e.g. see: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation#Method_1:_Flashing_with_Web_GUI

Re. the orange flash staying on then this is normal for the power LED of your d-link router when running DD-WRT. It will stay yellow (and blink when a Wifi connection uses your router). Is that what happens?

Which build of DD-WRT are you using
Did you factory reset it before flashing it and did you reset the router to factory settings after flashing it with DD-WRT?
