I have a wrt54gs running with sveasoft for the last year. Lately my wife had problem doing her online class exam which I started looking at why it would not work with Adelphia, but would work at my office. I then installed the wrtsl54gs with e-wrt (like that a lot better).

Turns out both routesr are dropping packets.

So, I connected my PC directly to the firewall... 25% packet loss.
Disconnected the firewall, rebooted the cable modem. Plugged my PC directly in the modem. 0% packet loss.

If I increase the packet size in winmtr from 64 to 256, no packet loss at all.

Adelphia is not the problem because I get 0% directly connected to the cable modem. But as soon as I plug in my PC in the firewall, packet loss occured.

Small packet loss problem with these routers??? any other info needed to troubleshoot the problem? Duplex issue between the cable modem and the router?

Between? the router and my PC? Between the router and Adelphia's Cuda CMTS router?

On your PC. I had the problem with an xbox used as a router. Lower the MTU size on the pc had worked with me.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't think MTU is going to change anything on 64 bytes packets...
