what you might be seeing is if you make ANY wireless changes it will disconnect the wireless and it will be a minute or two for it to return. YMMV since I'm on the ACSv1
EDIT/Update: I did a clean install from r30800 and just finished manually inputting my settings. No issues so far, looking good.
Reflash the 30805 5Ghz OK
Reflash 30815 5Ghz dead...
I switch the 2,4 Ghz off => 5ghz connection dead with 2 macbbok 2k7...
My primary router & Access point is the Linksys WRT1900ACS and everything seem normal and stable at this time.
I also have the Linksys WRT1900AC(v1) and I just upgraded it as well via a clean install. I configured the ACv1 as a wireless client. To test it I disabled the 2.4 band first and the 5 ghz is working. While the 5 Ghz is working the previous Kong 30800 release upload speed (as wireless client) was 21Mbps, with this version I’m only able to attain 11.8 Mbps on the 5 ghz band so it basically cut the U/L speed in half. Pretty much the same result if I disable the 5 ghz and connect to the 2.4 band only. IMO the previous version was a little faster with the U/L when configured as wireless client.
sorry about your issue and the above does you no good but I can confirm the 5 ghz band does work on both the WRT1900ACS & WRT1900AC version 1’s

The last 2 builds have been unstable as a NAS on with my Mediasonic 4bay JBOD box connected to the USB port on my 1200AC. The drives keep disconnecting and I have to reconnect manually.
I dropped back to Kong r30700M after noticing performance repeatability issues which were affecting my home automation system. Seems to be related to the 10.3.2.0-20161011 wireless drivers in the newer builds.
Kong's build from June 24, 2016 has been incredibly stable for my WRT1900AC V1. Over 100 days of total service, and 25 days of recorded uptime.
Kong fixed the channel selection for the V1 from the changelist, so I decided to give this build a try. It has been on my router for a few days now.
So far, pretty good. Liking the changes to the Wireless client list for operating mode and the signal quality fix.
It seems a lot of people are having some odd issues with mwlwifi driver 10.3.2.0-20161011. I would say performance is slightly less than 10.3.0.17-20160617. I can't comment on any other WRT model, as I only have a 1900AC V1.

Have just gotten a wrt1900acs v1. So far cannot install any version of dd-wrt. So far have tried Kong's latest, in this post, plus Brainslayer 30771 and 30826. My experience has been that Kong's and Brianslayer's 30771 do not install and get routed back to the Linksys firmware. Brainslayer 30826 soft bricked the router and had to do the 3 off/on sequence to get back to the Linksys firmware. The Linksys firmware version is 1.0.1.174588 which seems to be the latest. Maybe that is the issue, but I do not access to an older firmware version to try.
Before some smarty asks, YES I am downloading the image for the wrt1900acs v1.
I am successful with installing Openwrt/LEDE, specifically davidc502's latest LEDE build. That installs and is currently running on this router.
I have two identical routers at two different locations running this version and anywhere from within an hour to a few hours, the 5.0GHz channel drops or loses complete accessibility.
Often you can see the channel but it will NOT acquire an IP. Often the additional symptom is that is repeatedly asks for the WiFi Key but it is correct as it already has previously auth'd and saved. As well to simplify, both bands use the same pass key.
I can stand right next to the router. Does NOT matter. The solution is to power off/on.
This happens mostly with crApple devices. iphone 6/7.
Android seem to be largely unaffected with the exception of one Galaxy S4 that will do the pass key dance with futility.
If you actually specify channels on either 2.4 or 5.0 or both, the channel specific WiFi will be gone! _________________ WRT1900ACSv2
