I have this working and tested on multipul devices now with success:
Here is how to do it, make sure you follow the instructions!! 2nd! make sure when you write the image to device to wait until its finished, it can take 10+ minutes to write, its not hung its just writing slow.
This is all done with a computer connected to eth0 of the edge router, you don't need to be connected via console cable to do this.
Code:
1. scp 9-29-2016 image to /tmp on edgerouter
2. ssh into edgerouter username/passwd ubnt/ubnt
3. run the command: sudo -i
4. run the command: dd if=/tmp/edgerouter-e200.image of=/dev/mmcblk0 conv=fsync
4. Wait until it finishes writing then type reboot:... device should
accessable on 192.168.1.1
5. Downgrade firmware to latest working image.

I then downgraded to build 27944 and it is confirmed working for me... The initial build has javascript bugs that prevents you from saving settings on the setup page.. I used that image to initially get dd-wrt installed, then downgraded to this build.
Will this flash work with Edgerouter POE (ERPoe-5) following steps posted?
Brainslayer has a ER5POE device and working on a dd-wrt port, the problem is at the moment getting the POE part to work on the ports. Support is there for it in dd-wrt however there is some secret sauce that ubiquiti has to get these ports to power up on the switch.
I am sure brainslayer has a better explanation then I do, but that is the basic problem right now.
So in short dd-wrt works on the device, but no reason to release dd-wrt for it until the POE function works properly.
I'm using ERPoe-5 with v3.0-r35681 std (04/06/1 and it seems to work fine, with one caveat. I would like to see the other two ports working, even if the PoE isn't turned on.
