@Magnetron,
Since you have the second R9000, could you please help with this request of checking the wireless repeater bridge functionality if this is working well?
Planning to invest on second R9000 if this indeed works.
Thanks

Updated to Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r31481 std (02/20/17)
NVRAM still shows as 64K.
Enabled TurboQAM (QAM256) support, but the max I see is only 540Mb/s instead of 800Mb/s.
Another issue is that when any wireless setup is updated/saved, the wireless packet info resets to zero (transmitted and received).

repeater methods (client+vap, client bridge+vap, wds ap <-> wds station both 5ghz & 2.4ghz) works again in latest build, qca9984 had some issues earlier & this router also has 2 qca9984 in it, the rates are also fixed. wifi packet info is reset cause the radios have to go down then up again to apply the changes, just the way they work. the packet counts the radios tell ddwrt are erased. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

Build 31495 - nvram states 128kbs and TurboQam256 appears to be working correctly . In the previous build, I couldn't get my Amazon Echo & Dot to connect, but all appears to be working now...

I'm a newbie on this forum. I've recently got one of R9000 and I'm interested if in the latest WRT version of this router is still available there the PLEX MEDIA SERVER somehow available with the NETGEAR DOWNLOADER.
The only 2.4ghz devices I use are 3 Squeezebox Controllers (by Logitech) and the Amazon ECHO and DOT.
Actually, all these devices work , except the Amazon DOT. However, the Amazon ECHO is working fine, so for now, I've disabled TurboQam256.
If you want to know the wifi radios for these devices, they are easily found on Google. I would look myself, but I'm not sure of the exact information you want.

Sorry for the delay. Had to wait for BrainSlayers latest r31495 release which fixed several Wi-Fi problems.
Here are the IPERF3 results for 2 R9000 routers one of which (R900RT2) is connected as a Client Bridge to the first router (R9000RT1).
R9000RT1 is setup as follows:
ATH0 : AP, IP 192.168.18.1, Security AES/WPA2-Personal, Wireless : channel 64, AC-Only, VHT160, IPERF3 : Client
R9000RT2 is setup as follows:
ATH0 : Client Bridge, Static IP 192.168.18.2, Gateway and DNS 192.168.18.1, Wireless/Security: same as above, IPERF3 : Server
Server setup:
root@R9000RT2:~# iperf3 -s -D <== Don't need displayed output so "daemonize" it.
Since the routers are 2 feet (< 1 meter) apart, I adjusted the TX powers to 10 dBm to prevent possible receiver overload.
Run IPERF3 Client: (Results happen to be better than average.)

1.
use wds ap -> wds sta for benchmarks. client bridge remains shit. its a fake bridge and costs more cpu time
2. never run iperf3 on the r9000. run it on a device behind like a pc.
3.
compare it with vht80. vht160 is 2x2 only and vht80 is 4x4. so vht80 is likelly be the same as fast or even faster at indoor conditions _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking?
