I've updated to 31418 and can report no issues, other than I've not been able to get IPv6 to work on this build or 31387, even using the same settings as I have done before on my R8500 in the past. Does IPv6 work on these builds?

Also, I use a .bat file to quickly and automatically release, flush out the dns and renew the ip address. This is for when I change my ip settings from the factory settings on DD-WRT. This is done with one double click and negates having to open a cmd line on my pc and manually type the following...

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

I use it often as I use a manual wired switch to switch between my 2 routers - a R8500 used as a VPN router and the R9000 as my main router. This is because my maximum speed is only 30mbps using the VPN, but 200mbps on my R9000. Therefore, this .bat file is great for speed and ease when switching between routers with different ip addresses...

Pppoe, entered details. Operating mode is gateway.

Anything I'm missing?

Also noticed that flashing the stock netgear firmware from dd-wrt doesn't do anything.

No issues here. VHT160 still seems to have some limitations.

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r31418 std (02/17/17)
Time: 10:03:47 up 16:29, load average: 0.02, 0.03, 0.00

The firmware listed below will allow R9000 routers running DD-WRT to flash back to Netgear 1.0.1.36 factory firmware.
(Login to the forum to see it.)

Install by using the Administration => Firmware Upgrade web page.

When switching between Netgear/DD-WRT firmwares it's a very good idea to reset to defaults and then reconfigure. This has been known to solve many strange problems.

@magnetron: pushing reset button, power on and send with tftp to 192.168.1.1 works also quiet easy. undestroyable recovery method. maybe i will implement the netgear fw format in future versions

new test release. should fix the repeater mode troubles. made a stupid misstake in a hostapd enhancement for vht80/vht160 repeater support

see http://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/31431

btw: this release has increased nvram size. this may break configurations. so it might be that after upgrading your config gets reset to defaults. (to be honest, i havent tested it yet, just made the fixes i made on a r7800 with the same wifi chipset)

@BS

I created the reversion f/w for noobs that might not want to deal with tftp. If you intend to use the Netgear header soon then discard the post.

Loading r31434 set the config to defaults but nvram size is still 64k on the webpage and on the term:

root@R9000RT2:~# softwarerevision
31434

root@R9000RT2:~# uname -mrvos
Linux 4.4.50-rc1 #181 SMP PREEMPT Sat Feb 18 19:21:25 CET 2017 armv7l DD-WRT

root@R9000RT2:~# nvram >/dev/null show
size: 26557 bytes (38979 left)

ATM, I am having problems with ath1 in client mode not working properly with the Samsung hotspot. It sees the hotspot but doesn't receive an IP address. I reset config to default and reconfigured but no joy.

BTW, I inserted the giwifi driver while on r31418 but wasn't able to do anything useful with the 60GHz radio.

if you insmod the giwifi driver you just need to configure the device with one of the 3 frequencies. just ap mode has been tested. thats all so far. dont have any device for testing. about wifi:
i tested client mode, repeater, ap ,wds ap and wds sta etc.
if you have troubles you should maybe post your config settings. if it doesnt associate its likelly that settings do not match to the ap. client mode wasnt any problem for the last builds and should not be right now. (for sure dhcp on the index page must be enabled for pure client mode)

for debugging client mode you may restart wpa_supplicant with option -dd from commandline and without daemon mode. so you see usefull error messages

BrainSlayer thank you for all your hard work but I think the openvpn client either isn't functioning or has issues with my vpn provider.

I'm following this tutorial for setup:

then your openvpn config is likelly wrong. consider that there are slightly syntax changes in latest openvpn version

cannot test airvpn. these bollocks seem not to enable my account for 2 days now. so i cannot configure it for testing

edit:

found the bug. tun driver was missing. stupid thing. let me fix it

The 31481 build is still showing 64k nvram size on the web page but the term is showing 128k.

root@R9000RT2:~# softwarerevision
31481

root@R9000RT2:~# uname -mrvos
Linux 4.4.50 #183 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 20 20:49:03 CET 2017 armv7l DD-WRT

root@R9000RT2:~# nvram show >/dev/null
size: 28089 bytes (102983 left)

Also noticed this:
root@R9000RT2:~# cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 001e0000 00020000 "u-boot"

mtd14: 00120000 00020000 "pot"

I'm making some progress with the 60GHz radio which is configured as a Client:

root@R9000RT2:~# iw giwifi scan <== It sees the 60GHz radio on my Tp-Link AD7200 router.

I think that the tap driver is also missing.

root@wrt:~# modprobe tap
modprobe: module tap not found
modprobe: failed to load module tap: No such file or directory

Also - Thank you very much!

edit: This was a very stupid post. If you're reading this please look at BS's response.
