This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Router: Netgear R7000
Firmware: r30100M
Kernel: 4.4.14 #116
Status: OK
Reset: NO
Errors: NO

Updated via ddup --flash-latest. Few minutes of uptime and all seems to be ok.

Maybe the wifi speed is improvedwith this update but I'm not sure because from iperf3 the speed is the same, using throughput app is faster than r30020 (it reports speed of almost 800mpbs, with r30020 I can't go above 700mbps)
Here are the tests, consider that I'm using 2015 MacBook as a client and the wifi card support only 867mbps

Router: Netgear R6400

Today I decided to go back to Netgear firmware V1.0.1.12_1.0.11

Why? When upgrading to dd-wrt 30100M I still had country problems. For example selecting country Netherlands gave problems with 80 VHT and channel selection, only Auto. Switching to United states and the channel selection was available again on 5 Ghz. This is very basic problem. Also throughput on United States was much better.
Also CPU speed disappeared from GUI on this build.
It gives me the impression dd-wrt development is far from optimal for R6400. I know how much effort you put into it so see it as positive feedback.
Keep up the good work! Hope to run dd-wrt on my R6400 soon.

R8500. Upgraded to 30100 tonight. As usual and as expected for Kong builds, zero issues so far. Thanks Kong!

Not only that, my ISP's speed test at speedtest.tampabay.rr.com is back to full ISP speed: it pegs instantly at my 239 Mbps and holds that on a stright horizontal line through the entire test. Previous versions including 30020 started at about 130 and dropped to about 90 by the end of the test. Although as reported previously, I get the full ~230 Mbps on other test websites so I never gave that much weight to specific speed tests. So I don't know what changed WRT speeds, but 30100 seems to be a winner here.

Have you bothered to look at what your country's rules are for wifi?
Which channels and power settings they allow and such?
If everyone was the same there would be no need for a selection.

Hi,

I do have basically the same issue with the R8000.

However, I won't switch back to Netgear FW Smile

If I select US as regulatory domain everything is working fine. Once I select Europe or Germany, only 'auto' is available for Channel selection with VHT80 and the maximum throughput cannot be reached.

As Brainslayer has recently added R8000 support I was installing his build and tested the regulatory domain settings. Interestingly, with the BS build the regulatory domain settings are working as expected for Europe and Germany. In this case also the possible settings for channel selection are the same for the R7000 with the Kong builds and the R8000 with the BS build.

@Kong: Are there any known differences in terms of regulatory domain settings that affect the channel selection between your and BS builds for the R8000?

still freezing after 1 hour uptime. Did not get this using 30000

I have syslog up but it is a mess. the time and dates are all off and I can't understand and find any important lines. Can someone help tell me the lines I should look for that are causing this freezing and unresponsive router until I hard reset?

There are lines that say time and date dec 31 and jan 1

It's still just this wireless performance that's really got me completely dumbfounded.

Previous version r29875M, using my particular WiFi settings, speed test results give me 200Mbps+ on my iPhone.

Every firmware after that, I get 30Mbps MAX, no matter what I do. Same WiFi settings, same speed test server.

There is no difference between resetting and not resetting. The only difference is the firmware, and it is reproducible every single time.

WAN to LAN speeds are similar from what I can see.

I do not show CPU overclocking in the webif, as too many people are not aware of the consequences and therefore brick their unit by setting it too high. For those who know what their doing is the commandline.

Regarding channels, this is broadcom internal stuff, all we can do is to check regulation db, if NL is within EU regulation we can add a quirk to use EU.
I have to think about Great Britain now, since they are basically no EU member anymore.

No what you did is you changed settings differently on BS fw compared to mine, if you only see auto, press apply again. If you change with etc. applying will always get you auto, since there is a completely different channel selection available compared to previous setting, that's why the drop down is empty. That's why I wrote the guide:

How about you do a reset, then only change the basic wireless params you need and test again. I suspect you have a certain param in place that causes trouble now, e.g. some bullshit tcp tuning setting. I have no speed issues on any of my units, the driver is exactly the same on 3.10 builds and 4.4 builds.
