My router seems to lock up often. It's fairly new. Worked well for a month or so, but I've had to 30/30/30 reset it several times now out of nowhere. If I don't 30/30/30, lights start to come on, flicker a bit, and then it resets w/o ever letting me access the router.

- Netgear R8500
- DD-WRT v3.0-r29200M kongac (03/05/16)
- Linux 4.4.4 #43 SMP Sat Mar 5 23:51:59 CET 2016 armv7l

Not overclocked & TX Power not changed / modified.

Pretty standard home setup with several wireless items, a single wired connection and openVPN running.

Commands:

- 6 lines to prevent WAN traffic if VPN dies.
- Long script to block ads

Any ideas?

Is there a newer firmware I should try?

Thank you.

Here ya go: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/

Make sure you perform a factory reset before the flash, and make SURE you manually add back in all your configurations.

Also, I'm pretty sure the 30-30-30 reset is inept on these routers.

One of the reasons why I went back to 3.10 kernel, there is a bug in the bridging code that prevents packages from flowing and sometimes causes crashes, while I was able to fix the crash it would require more work to eliminate the other effects, thus I'm waiting for upstream in order to fix the issue.

Thank you!

Without sounding like too much of a noob, when you say "factory reset" do you mean the 30/30/30 method, Administration -> Factory Defaults -> "Yes" -> "apply settings," or do you mean something else?

After doing the reset, go with this?

http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_R8500.bin

And that should fix the issue Kong mentioned, or is this issue a work in progress? I'm sure this is all discussed somewhere. I'm searching, but unable to find it.
