Hello,

Due to the failure of my very old WRT54G, I had to put my Netgear R7000 to work. Sad

But the Firmware version installed on it is quite old one (V3_r39715M as of 20190509). And this version is not working wery well : the router froze randomly. I need to power cycle it each time. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

So I need some advise to upgrade it to the latest stable firmware available.

In general, start by perusing the last several build threads, noting reports on k4.4 devices (and of course esp for your model) with the mode you're using, and features you use (e.g. samba, VPN, etc).

Don't use anything older than 41664, but mostly likely... just try the latest build. If you have issues, reset and manually setup. Good luck. Wink

Btw, need replacement caps for your GL (I've repaired many...and got a bunch I can sell cheap via USPS), or is it totally dead? ;-P

I have several WRT54s I have retired.....

Once you use the R7000 you will not care for the old friends any more.
