I have a WRT54G version 2.0 router. Yesterday I accidentally installed the standard firmware instead of the mini one. Now I can't access the router page. I tried reinstalling new firmware with Router Tools V3.7.1 but it doesn't work. I also tried Linksys's firmware updater but that doesn't work either. Can anyone help me out? Thanks a lot =]

Standard should run just fine on a V2 unit.
Did you do a hard reset after installing the firmware?
Can you Telnet to it... if so issue these commands and let it reboot
mtd erase nvram
reboot
Also...what are your Lights doing?
hope it helps.

Thanks redhawk,
Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about what hard resetting is, and how to issue commands to the router =[. I did press the reset button and it didn't change anything. When I disconnect all the wires and then power the router the power LED flashes for 20 seconds or so, then the power and WLAN LED turn on.
Also I forgot to mention that I still get internet access with the router.

You really should understand the necessary steps for loading firmware before attempting it. A hard reset is one of those steps.
Hard reset...press and hold reset button for 30 seconds, unplug unit still holding reset button for 30 seconds, plug it back in still holding a final 30 seconds.
This is to be done BEFORE and AFTER every firmware upgrade.
if you get internet access...you should be able to talk to the unit through telnet
In windows open a telnet session to 192.168.1.1 (or whatever you set your router to)
login...issue the commands
erase nvram
reboot
when it boots up....log in through web gui at http://192.168.1.1 (default after a reset)

Thanks a lot redhawk!
I'm getting some progress =]. I resetted the router and I can now access the webpage, however, for some reason I can't log in. My old password doesn't work, and neither does the default one, admin.

root/admin
it should work....I suggest you use the tftp utility and load the file I recommended above.
It sounds like something is hung up in your flash variables.

Thanks again redhawk =]
The username and pass worked. Also whats the site for the tftp? You just sent me the same page to download the driver.
Thanks =]

Maybe the DHCP is broken (or not running)
set a static IP address on your computer
192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0 for a mask
then try it again....in the tftp utility...leave the password field blank.

Hey redhawk
So I tried setting up a static ip. I went to Local Area Connection Properties, clicked on properties for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and i inputted the following info
IP Address 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
and i left the Prefered DNS server and Alternate DNS server blank
Anyways, after doing that it didn't work =[

OK...it sounds to me like you are out of easy options....its now time to think JTAG recovery.
Buy/Make a JTAG cable, install a 12 pin header and use the Tornado JTAG utility found here.
