Anything past the January 16th update my wifi throughput decreases from 20-25 MB/s to 2.5 MB/s with exactly the same settings. Every single build past January 16 reduces my wifi throughput.

I have tried resetting to factory defaults and setting up every thing fresh, but still end up with the same results.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps a firmware bug? You talking 5GHz I take it?

On your wireless status page, what channel width is shown?

Yes, 5GHz on VHT80 channel width AC only with a 100-5500 MHz Wireless channel.

Also note that the Extension Channel option doesn't give me any options to change it to Auto or anything else. The box is there, but nothing shows up regardless of the browser used.

Probably this bug, I had the same issue.

Go to Status > Wireless and post a screenshot of the status for 5GHz (which is ath0 for me).

Still cannot figure out why I am getting low throughput. I am only 5 metres away from the router.

Just curious... I had some issues on 2.4GHz with speed (or worse yet... connections dropping) until I knocked the power back to 19dBm. Perhaps a firmware bug in latest wireless driver and might affect 5GHz too, but might be worth a try.

What are your TX/RX rates? Also... there isn't any RFI issues, just to rule that out where you are? (eg. Neighbors using same wifi channel, etc).

I dropped the dBm to 19 and still get the same low throughput on 5GHz band. My Tx/Rx rate is 585/175 and the neighbours aren't on the same wifi channel. I spent a few days trying to figure out why the throughput was so low until I tried the January 16th beta update with the same settings and Bang, amazing throughput. Thanks

The wifi drivers have been quite unstable I guess. Wish they were better... maybe someday haha...

Pardon my ignorance, but where can I find this beta?

They are all on the FTP.

I found it. Appreciated. Smile

Edit: I flashed the february 16th beta on my router, and now wifi throughput has gone from really bad to even worse. I am really at a loss.

Results from speedtest.net, five meters from the router.

Cheap modem/router from my ISP: 49Mbps down, 16Mbps up.

$$$ Linksys 1200AC router: 2,06Mbps(!) down, 2,6Mbps up.

Any ideas? It surely isn't supposed to be *this* bad..?

You should try Kong's previous release (http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-MVEBU/test/). My wireless speed is faster than with Linksys FW. My router is a WRT1900AC v1, but I think HW is pretty similar...

Edit: I've found that 02/15 release is NOT the one I was using. Mine is 02/04. And DL speed goes from 140Mbps to less than 20Mbps on any release newer than that. Unfortunately I only have WRT1900AC v1 firmware, so I couldn't (even if I got Kong's OK, which I have not) upload 1200 FW.

@Kong: Isn't there anyway to know what happened after 02/04 release? Wireless speed is soooo much slower...

^ This. I'm using Kongs build from the 15th on v2 and it works perfectly.

Thanks! I reflashed my router with Kong's 15/02 release, and wifi throughput increased quite a bit. I now get 18Mbps down and 16Mbps up.

Regular web browsing seems responsive.

Was the previous release even better? If so, where can I get it? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Anyway, as long as this build is stable enough to give some decent uptime, I can live with it.

Thanks to both of you! Smile
