On paper, this router has better specs than Linksys EA8500.
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Netgear_R7800
Is DD-WRT support anywhere in the near future?
There is a discrepancy between the link above and the wiki http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices as far the radio chips. I'd imagine wikidevi information is more accurate.
If that is the case, are these QCA9984 radios supported or have a driver in the works? _________________ Buffalo WZR‑600DHP (WZR-HP-AG300H)

donate them one, other than that dont expect it soon..r7500v2 still isnt progressing either. only difference with this over ea8500 is its a "overclocked" ipq8064, chances are decent the 4 can reach the speeds of the 8065 fine, & the radios are vht160mhz supported, that is the only difference between qca9980 & 9984 is vht160, they are even pin compatible so theoretically u could rip off a qca9980 & stick in qca9984 & itll work.. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

its not that easy. even if its a compatible pin layout, the chip is somewhat different. i need to have a working ath10k firmware for it and so far i havent found one _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? No, this is just official support by ath10k, not much new, the problem is the missing radio firmware for the 9984. _________________ KONG PB's: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/

It would be real great if that the missing radio firmware for the QCA9984 is finally available. The newest firmware from Netgear for the R7500V2 is 1.0.2.4 and it's really slow and limited, i.e. no provision for repeater bridge. Since the R7500V2 is discontinued and replaced with the R7800 there are lots of R7500V2 out there due to the price reduction. _________________ Netgear R7800(2), R7500v2(2) WDS, Asus RT-AC68R (2)

I'd imagine this is the firmware finally http://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/29653
If this is anywhere close to testing, I'd definitely get my hands on one. _________________ Buffalo WZR‑600DHP (WZR-HP-AG300H)
The radio's are up. Just need to wait patiently for Kong to finish his testing.

Uploaded a build for the R7800 now, see Readme for flashing instruction. I have not created a modified netgear image yet, that can be used to flash back to oem firmware. The only way to flash back to netgear firmware right now is via tftp. It does not require a serial setup, erasing linux will trigger fw recovery on next boot which allows to tftp a factory firmware. _________________ KONG PB's: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/

Flashed without a problem, seems WiFi works well. Thank you very much
There is one problem though, can't get USB to work, enabled all services but the led on hdd doesn't even show a sign of connection. It does lit up when I push the reboot button)

835Mbps with one core maxed out, there is room for improvement:-) So finally we have a unit that can handle a gigabit line without any proprietary nat acceleration. When running my benchmarks the units just sits there at around 55° Celsius. _________________ KONG PB's: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/
