Installed Kong 29020 on my wrt1900ac v1 without any issues. I installed from the Linksys UI using the .img file then did a clean install. Did not use any backup in other words.
So far speed etc look fine but been up for only about 30 minutes.
Error:
Cannot enable ssh. The ssh enable selection is grayed out so you cannot enable. Telnet is enabled though so can access the router remotely.
This thread gave me the drive to try a Kong build. I installed DD-WRT v3.0-r29020M kongmv (02/04/16) just now and am pleased to report that download/upload speeds are as fast as expected. Ping times still ~24ms but I can live with that. Uptime only 20min so will be watching it.
Upgrade process - simply flashed with the .bin file from existing DD-WRT version 28788 in boot_part 2 so kong is now in boot_part 1. No reset or reload of backup config etc.

Do you know if IPV6 works in 02/04 build?
EDIT*: Got around to installing this build. Can confirm that IPV6 via DHCPv6-PD works. Performance on 2.4 and 5.0 are at maximum.

Sorry, I don't use IPv6 so don't know.
Sorry I do not use IPv6 either.
The ping times for me vary by client. Chromebook and HP laptop both have wireless ping times in the 3 to 5ms range on 5GHz. Home brew PC with TP-Link T4U wireless adapter has ping times of 15 to 33ms on 5GHz. As Kong has noted this is a wireless driver issue on the wrt1900ac. Hopefully they will get it sorted out soon. For me the times are no big deal as I do not play games that require good ping times.
Just as a note all the above have good ping times when running the Linksys OEM firmware.
Hmm those ping times are brutal. Is that only on 5GHz and are you sure it's not nearby EMI? I don't have any 5GHz devices other than a chromebook. I need to upgrade my router and test it myself.

The 2.4GHz has the same times as well. Not a EMI issue. In same location the Chromebook and HP laptop with Intel wireless nic get the same 3 to 5ms and the PC with the TP-Link gets 15 to 33ms. No difference. All tests are done with device in the same location. As I said I do not do games so the ping time doesn't bother me. Previous job we figured as long a the ping time was less then 100ms the end user would not notice and we were not proven wrong. This was because we had WAN links from California among others. The Roku and Apple TV both stream without issues. So for me this is a good build. Don't do any of that fancy stuff like repeater or VPN.
Never really saw any advantage to having beamforming enabled in my environment. Maybe it helps some folks but for me this is not a problem. Again for the optimize multicast traffic. Don't have devices that need/use multicast. No games, etc.

Moving from Marvel Support board for WRT1900AC
WRT1900AC V1
DD Build r29020M kongmv.
status: up and running since +-24 hours (power failure caused reboot, up for 1 hour so far)
Very stable build so far with decent wireless range and speeds.
Tested using USB 3.0 on SAMBA server
22 Write MAX
40 read MAX
Tested on USB 2.0/eSata port using USB.
20 write MAX
23 read Max
So there is a difference on USB 3.0 port on read but nothing on Write........... read could be upwards of 70MB/s to rival stock and write around 50MB/s is around stock performance.
Would really like to have DD rival the stock performance of NAS since it is basically the market leader in this field on stock and the reason I bought it.
Looks like need to try eSata rather or try OpenWRT otherwise go back to stock Sad I love DD though.... Kong pls help Smile Smile
O and By The Way a file of 3.66GB is enough to push the Load on the router continually upwards from 10% to 77% during transfer. If I transfer again while load is coming down I actually hit 99% load??
Problem or not?
Also on a side note the fan setting works 10 degrees up from its set at, if set at fan on at 60 degrees it switches on at 70 degrees, also the fan off setting doesnt work, as soon as it goes below the fan on temp it switches off therefore get fan spinning up for 3 secs then off and 5 seconds lates same 3 secs on the down. not major issue just can a bit irritating.
Hello all.
This is my first post.
I've installed the DD-WRT v3.0-r28628 (12/29/15) build onto my WRT1900ACv1 and so far it works well.
I'm interested in trying this Kong release, but:
1. is it significantly better than what I have?
2. where do I get it from?
3. do I update firmware from DD-WRT menu as if were straight forward, or do I need to reset and then do so?
4. can I restore my settings from current backup or rekey from start?
Thank you.

1. Experiences vary. For me it works better than the more recent versions except for 29048 which I haven't tried.
Thank you Juggler!
I've updated to 29020....all good except my Acer laptop can't see the 5MHz band unless on CH149.
The Kong build has slower ping (31 vs 18 ) but faster transfer rates over wifi.
A question: what did you mean "in boot_part 1/boot_part 2"
I don't see those options.
Regards
Nick
