I would try all 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24 possible combinations on pins 3,5,7,9. I did it before on my Belkin. I had luck on 19th try Smile

is it normal for two of the jtag pin to carry +3.3v ?

i am getting +3.3v on pins 3 and 7.

i was wondering about trying all the options on 1,5,9,11,13 and 14.

can use use a standard multimeter to detect the other pins? or to rule out pins that are not used? the reason i am asking is it looked like i was getting a very small response on some pins but not others.

thanks,

I will measure levels on normal JTAG, so you can compare.

i just got the router in the mail today

it makes my wrt-54gs v2 with 7dbi high gain look like crap Shocked

i only got 15 to 16mbps on wireless

with this router i get 22.85mbps

it seems to run torrents fine with what ever firmware it comes with it maxes out my internet line @ 1.1Megabyte/s
(well my internet line is 1.2mbyte/s but one does have to count the overhead of torrent)

my linksys rarely did this with torrent

it will hold 2000 to 3000 Connections with out rebooting

the only Cons i find is

1. No WPA2
2. gets Warm (but so does any thing that uses power)
3. when i got it from the ebay seller it smelled like an ash tray

Look's like i have an firmware that IS not Posted on there Site

Firmware Version 1.4.1.5

this one IS very very stable

works VERY well with torrent

Looks like interesting device. I'll check detection, then it might work with broadcom_atheros builds.

For start it will be nice to get JTAG and console working.

from what i have read jtag seems to be crippled on the board. serial is fine and many folks have used this method to gain access to the device.

i have never used serial but i have enough parts to make up a serial connection.

i'm happy to try anything out,

here are a few links to sites relating to the wgt634u

http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Netgear/WGT634U

tell me what parts
to make an
serial connection.

have a read here

http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Netgear/WGT634U

there is a section that covers making a serial cable. i have made one from a FTDI chip and made another from an usb mobile phone data cable. my phone cable has a Prolific pl2302 in it.

serial is pretty well documented for this device, we are trying to locate jtag. many have tried but no one has located it yet.

i've done a little more probing with my meter. i only get 2 pins showing voltage on the 14 pin header, 3 and 7.

i opened up a WHR-G54S and tried it, i get 3.3v on the pins for jtag.

is it safe to conclude that jtag is not available at the pin header?

it might. i've never used a serial port version, only usb.

i bought this one and i can say it has never let me down.

i also have a couple of usb mobile phone data cable which do the job too.
