I just got this router but it's a version 2. I can't find firmware on the Linksys website for version 2 (just in case I need to restore the factory firmware). I'm not sure if I downloaded the right dd-wrt firmware. I downloaded ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acv2-webflash-r29968.bin and factory-to-ddwrt-r29968.img. The filename does not show acsv2 - instead it shows acv2. I don't see a firmware directory for WRT1900ACSv2 - only wrt1900acv2 and wrt1900acs (which i believe is for version 1). So, do I need to wait for new firmware to be developed for WRT1900ACSv2?

BTW, I always append the revision number to the firmware filenames if it hasn't been done already.

I think you're right. Looks like I got confused with seeing v2 in the FCC info.

ATHF posted this link in a different thread but just to update this one, there IS a WRT1900ACSV2

http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=165487

There are:

WRT1900AC V1
WRT1900AC V2
WRT1900ACS V1
WRT1900ACS V2

I assume the V1 S dd-wrt firmware wont work with the v2 hardware? Linksys states not to get v1 and v2 firmware mixed up.

// , Not to be a bother, but I did not get a sense that anyone directly answered the original poster's question.

Does DD-WRT work for the OP's model of router?

Alot of confusion obviously, as there are 2 hardware releases for the "acs".

Yes. There is now a V2. But there wasn't at the time of the post.

So, You posted on Sunday that there is an ACS V2... I ordered my ACS on Saturday Smile... arrived today.. sure enough... ACS V2.

Anyone know if/when we could expect a DDWRT build for ACS V2?
Is there a build that is known to work?

Maybe that's my problem. I have a V2 and loaded the .img file onto it but cannot boot DD-WRT. Of course, Linksys just says contact DD-WRT support. Has anyone found the correct DD-WRT firmware to be flashed onto the WRT1900ACS -v2 router??

Thanks in advance.

In one of the other threads, I believe it was mentioned that BrainSlayer's build uses the latest wireless driver which would make it compatible with the v2. I've downloaded it but have not yet loaded it up.

I know on the OpenWRT side of things, kaloz has a working OpenWrt build and davidc502 has a working LEDE build. I've tested both of those on my v2 and they work like a dream. I'm currently sticking with davidc502's LEDE build.

Glad to hear it works like a dream. My ultimate goal is to put in on my new flashed router so that I can hide the ip of the attached devices. I'll give a search of the forums for what you're referring to. Again, thanks!!

BigCalhoun--

Just to be clear, this is what you're currently using?

Bill,

Just want to let you know I also was running 5.0 in pure mixed on VHT80. As a test to help you, I switched to AC/N mixed, VHT80, 149 upper. My main 5.0 ac clients can still see and connect to the 5.0 band. Just wanted to let you know.

However, I will say something strange has been happening on the 5.0 availability. I was on Kongs 30015 and had the issue you describe, though not on my first ACS. But on a new ACS, flashed with the same build, I could not see 5.0. So I flashed the BS build, and it worked out of the box, and still is. Also IPV6 has been solid for me.

Thanks for the info. I have reinstalled the LEDE version mentioned in one of the above posts. Davidc502 is providing some really solid LEDE builds. First thing of note when I reinstall was a feeling of browsing being a little faster. Something that is hard to describe, as it is just a feeling. The 5GHz wireless is solid for me with the LEDE build as well.

Probably should let this go at that as this is a DD-WRT forum not LEDE so this is somewhat off topic.

Am guessing from looking at Kong's builds he has found a new shiny router to play with and seems to have lost interest in the wrt1900ac/s series of routers. His latest build is 2 wireless versions behind.

Update:
Not trying to make someone pick one over the other or wanting to argue which is better, just providing what I see.
Ran iperf3 on both builds. LEDE won. Not a huge margin, but LEDE is still faster for me.
