I have my wrt1900acv2 router and a Chromecast 2 that I can not connect to my 5ghz band. I was just wondering if anybody has one of these and has successfully connected it to your router on the 5ghz band. I can set it up on my 2.4ghz but that's why I upgraded the old one. Here are my settings for the 5ghz band.
I'm on slightly different boat (wrt1900acs) than you with the same problem. My Chromecast Audio doesn't connect on the 5GHz band in any mode/channel/config. _________________ Router: Linksys WRT1900ACS
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r28675M kongmv (01/10/16)
ISP: Comcast Blast 150/10, Actual (w/QoS 80%): 120/8
Would anyone have insight as to what the probable cause is, that prevents the Chromecast audio connecting to the 5GHz WiFi, on the Linksys wrt1900xxx series routers running ddwrt?
I have only noticed that in the setup process the chromecast complains of:
1. A generic "Cannot connect to the Chromecast"
2. "Re-enter your password prompt", although it has been entered correctly
3. "Make sure your router supports UPnP", while it is running
Since each of the above spurt out randomly I think its firmware related.
Conversely I'd like to hear from those who may have their Chromecast connected to the 5GHz channel, particularly in 802.11ac mode. _________________ Router: Linksys WRT1900ACS

I can confirm this is a ddwrt implementation issue as I've just reverted back to the stock Linksys firmware and the chromecast connects on 5GHz and when set to AC only. _________________ Router: Linksys WRT1900ACS

The UPnP error is separate. UPnP only applies to the WAN interface, it's basically dynamic port forwarding. UPnP would not affect internal LAN function at all. Just for documentation, Linksys stock enables UPnP by default, DD-WRT disables it. I would strongly recommend disabling it unless you absolutely need it. I'd question why Chromecast would need it unless you're hosting content or games. _________________ Routing:.......Asus RT-AX88U (Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14) Switching:....Netgear GS608_V3 & GS605_V4, TrendNet TEG-S82G & TEG-S50G
Yes it works on 2.4GHz, not on 5GHz in any mode/channel/bandwidth config.
I just tested with openwrt, and no issues. Just DD-WRT at the moment.
I need UPnP for NAS related things, Chromecast setup says it needs is to. Maybe to connect with streaming providers like Spotify etc. _________________ Router: Linksys WRT1900ACS

That's the thing, the router instance handles UPnP to the outside. Your NAS would need to use UPnP to allow access from the outside world to services you're hosting on the NAS. If your Chromecast needs UPnP for things like Spotify, that would be handled by the routing engine.
Meaning it wouldn't work at all, on any band if the cause was UPnP. The fact that it works on 2.4Ghz but not on 5Ghz leads me to believe that the UPnP error is a red herring. _________________ Routing:.......Asus RT-AX88U (Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14) Switching:....Netgear GS608_V3 & GS605_V4, TrendNet TEG-S82G & TEG-S50G

This has been answered a couple of times already in some other threads, and also affected my Xbox One in the same way. It's simple... just set your 5GHz to "Mixed", and it will work just fine. _________________ Device: Linksys WRT1900AC V1

I have a 1900AC which uses channel 157 and the firmware from Kong.
There are several "mixed" modes on the menu and the one that works 100%++ is the "mixed" (the word "mixed", all by itself)
so "na mixed" and "ac/n mixed" need not apply.
But this is a glaring question needing an answer, I agree, why shouldn't dd-wrt connect with "ac only",
or to break it down further,
which mode is the chromecast using
from the wireless buffet?
Does "Mixed" add some timings that Chromecast prefers?

Thats a good question. I wonder if the implementation is a bit buggy and this actually lets it use AC, or is it connecting something lower.
Is there a way to determine what a client is connected as in DDWRT?
