Hello to everyone,
I just bought this router because of its specs and because it was adsvertised as "open source".
then I got the bad surprise that there is not an official stable image image for it...am I wrong?
I want to be 100% sure not to brick my router for a wrong image, any advise?
That router have two firmware partitions. If you brick it, reboot 3 times and you will be back to stock. From stock use the .img file.
thanks a lot for your answer, do you suggest any particular image version?
what about this 3 times reboot procedure? does it work also for wrt1900acs? I read about it for wrt1900ac (v1 or v2)...
here is the procedure I found:
1. Assuming the router is on, turn it off.
2. Turn it back on... the power light will illuminate and then go out briefly as it prepares to boot. As soon as it goes out, turn it off again. Repeat this step three times, leaving the router on after the third time you turn it off.
3. Let it boot. It should return to stock after you let it boot.

is it correct?
I don't have an ACS, but it should work the same way as with the v1 and v2, yes that is the correct way (I had to do it 3 times last night). _________________ Tutorial for flashing WRT series WRT Installation,Upgrade & Basic Setup–Cliff Notes

I would suggest that you stick with either Kong, or BS builds, but don't mix the two. Where people have had boot loop issues with these routers, it is typically where they have switched from Kong to BS and visa versa.
I stick with the BS builds as they are "official".

Which is complete bullshit, as there are only minor differences between his and my builds, the base is exactly the same.
If BS bootloops, then it is because his build is simply broken. If I would build for the same amount of targets, then mine would start boot looping too.
DD-WRT currently supports about 250 models. I upload builds for <20 models, thus I'm still able to test flash one models out of a series.

Yup!!
I use Kong and do not have issues as I know he has tested. Brainslayer, as noted, supports 250 models. Cannot test them all so the chance of a brick. NO slam against Brainslayer, just reality.

It was only a suggestion based upon my perception of a corrolation after reading the numerous threads concerning issues during flashing. I have no particular preference to either development thread, but I picked BS and have never experienced any issue flashing the WRT9600AC v1, having tried numerous BS builds. That's why I will be sticking with BS builds.
I'm sure my experience would have been just the same had I initially chosen Kong builds.
I think that you took my suggestion out of context.
