is DD-WRT only for wireless routers? That's how it looks like in the 'Supported Device list'.

I'd be very interested in flashing DD-WRT to some cheap wired-only routers. The point is to create a cheap wired switch which can be remotely reconfigured to put a few tagged VLANs (or 1 untagged) into a physical port (which means: we'd be able to remotely change the topology of the network). That's the only feature I care about.

Currently we are using Cisco Small Business switches for this, but even the cheapest one is about $200, and we don't need 90% of its functionality, and we need quite a few of those devices, so if we could flash DD-WRT to some $25 cheap-ass wired-only consumer router it would save us quite a bit of money!

It doesn't need to be a wireless router... but it wont work on any router. The chipset needs to be supported and a build must be provided to easily get it working, so research ahead if you want DD-WRT support.
