Think the linksys e1200 will do the job ?
The E1200v2 yes (8MB flash) / the E1200v1 NO (4MB Flash)
Put shibby tomato firmware on it and be happy.
Don't expect better than 6 ~ 8 Mbps thru openVPN.
I use a E1200v2 as a client to connect to a server I run at other location.... It is setup as openVPN TAP.
It is flawless with shibby tomato but these are very lowend routers ... no speed -- its only 300 MHz processor.

e1200 is a minimal (weak) hardware broadcom unit..300mhz cpu is a complete no for vpn traffic especially, 32mb ram only..& at best it only has 8mb flash (as a BEST), 2x2:2 1 band.
dir-862L has 720mhz cpu, 128mb ram, 16mb flash, 802.11ac, same as archer c7 v2, 3x3:3 both bands.
wdr4900 v1 (not v2) has 800mhz cpu, 128mb ram, 16mb flash & is powerpc based, 3x3:3 both bands.
1043nd v2 (stay AWAY from that disaster that is the v1.x) has the same 720mhz cpu of the dir-862L/archer c7 v2, 64mb ram, 8mb flash, 3x3:3. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

specs are ok on paper but thats a broadcom router, if that means nothing to u & its cheap enough over others then u can try it i guess. their repeater mode (= client/wds + vap) breaks left & right randomly, multiple units brick randomly between builds & etc..their wireless performance is styrofoam while qualcomm atheros is a tank at least thats been my experiences with them. surely there will be others that say otherwise.
itll blow any e1200 out of the solar system thats for sure. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)
