The new firmware 170803 for Archer c7 v2 (EU) is no longer locked.

@Tigger42 Very Happy Cool a couple years on... your post helped me out also as I couldn't get http access but could ssh from my macbook. The python web server was just the thing and once you've cd to /tmp the wget was about 1 sec. I'm now up and running dd-wrt latest release (10/24/2019 v 41379) on tplink archer C7 V2 after previously being blocked from dowgrading to the suggested firmware version.
