I think I understand now - thanks for the reply you have confirmed what I was beginning to suspect.
This then would lead me to another logical question, if I choose to go down the two separate network route, is it possible for the two networks to see each other as if they were on the same network for sharing files etc.
I know I want the world here.
The goal is to connect to the VPN router (wired & WIFI) and use the Internet through IPVANISH but still get local network access, at the very least get local network access through wired connection.
I am working in this slowly, busy at work, xmas and vacation coming up.
I now have the WAN -> LAN working on separate network, before setting up the openvpn I want to get the ip tables thing working so I can see the VPN router from the primary network.
I have now managed to get everything working.
OpenVPN is working with ipVanish.
I can get to my primary LAN from the VPN router (both wired and WIFI)
I am working on getting back from primary LAN to VPN router, it seems that I had to have the firewall turned off to get to the VPN router something must be wrong with what I am doing with the ipTables or I have some other settings wrong?
